never say never (again)

never say never (again)

originally released one year ago, on february 2nd, 2005

all things must come to an end. working on this release since november 2003, i came to the conclusion that avs is not interesting for me anymore. when i look back, i enjoyed experimenting with effects, trying to come up with something new or unseen. this time i only focused on coloring and the use of convolution filters. do not worry, there might be small packs or even remix-collections in the future, but at this point i doubt anything else will see the light of day.

the great escape - never say never (again)

Staff review

Always sad to see another AVS celebrity retire.

Yathosho has been one of the key figures on the AVS scene for a long time, and deserves much respect. This pack, unfortunately, isn't one of his best. It's a very good example of his style though, revolutionary in its beginnings, but done and redone way too much. Heck, it was one of the first styles distinctive enough to be called in all honesty a "style". The colour schemes are usually good, to great (Happy End comes to mind). Most of the presets feel empty, but all in all, this pack is well worth downloading.

Comments

Small steps x big man = great distance - This is a great pack, full of stylistic improvements and experiements. Although these aren't the same as the techincal improvements of UCN or pak-9 they have an equal impact... and its a loss to the communty that this was yaths last original pack. - March 16, 2006 by Zen-X (Liam McLaughlin)

historic - if there's one thing that i've always admired about yathosho's work is his creativity and the new things he introduced. ever since i started creating avs presets, his 'installation' packs were the ones i looked up to when i was trying to find my style. and while doing that, i watched this man's style evolve, turn around and hit me in the face with something completely new when i didn't expect it. this pack is a piece of history, and a personal source of inspiration. - March 14, 2006 by gonzalo munoz

nicey nicey - to be honest, ol' good yatto had some packs better than this one, but i appreciate fact that it's his last one, so it makes me remember something with a tear of nostalgie... - March 10, 2006 by ivan lychagin (aka vanish)
