love what U done - real cool do more love it.the only thing that can stop U now R other people.and that wont happen! - October 22, 2007 by Joseph Guarini
Works fine in Winamp 2.8 - Just tested it as a plugin for Winamp 2.8, on XP, with Nvidia 7800 GTX, dancers sync up just fine with Rob Thomas - This is How a Heart Breaks (which has a prominent drum track). If I remember right, it didn't work when I installed any version of Winamp later than 2.8. I keep 2.8 on my system just for Mediadome! Actually, I think a lot of plugins broke at version 3. I'm grateful Winamp posts them here, but wish they would be properly labeled as such.Mediadome puts you in a virtual nightclub where dancers sync to the beats of the music you play. It's not as trippy as Milk Drop, but more navigable and closer to a virtual world. Not as sexy as Mojo Master but much more configurable, and with more interactive camera angles and beat-driven jumpcuts. Not quite free-range navigation as in a club in Second Life. You're more or less on rails, with some freedom to choose your next stop in the club. Overall, a remarkable technical achievement, visionary, even. After seven years, I think it's still way ahead of its time. When mediadome.com was up, it did some other cool stuff; I swear it pulled up some (correct) lyrics for me once and showed them on one of the screens at the wet bar. Wish I could get that working again. There's a chat function that I also don't know how to revive. Wish I could upgrade to have Chill Zone; I think there might have been at least one other upgrade, another dancer. I think Mediadome had the capability to accept new dance moves, too, don't know if that was ever available (right click on dancer to see Dancer Type, Dancer Style, Dancer Skin). Also don't know if there were any other skins (Options > Skin has UI Skin and Spotlight Skin). It's just wrong not to have the complete set of whatever components were once available here on this site.Bottom line, not for everybody, but a worthy effort whose rating is too low because of all the reviews by people who couldn't get it to work. I believe their problem was that they have later versions of Winamp. - October 6, 2007 by ver mel
innovative - browsing, visualisation, chat. all in one. 3D interface well done. - August 8, 2006 by exploding blister
great - First off I think this is one of the best plugins ive ever seen (and yes ive tested hundreds). As for all the reviews saying that it has a virus, Bull I scanned it using norton 2004 pro fully updated and found nothing. To those that say it runs slow... get better hardware, 256 megs of ram gets mostly used by the os (you need a good gfx card to run with only 256 megs) and sdram is crappy for this type of thing, and NO a 32mb vid card is not good for much of anything, 64mb cards are a little better. I am running it on windows xp with 1024 ddr 333, a 1.7 ghz amd xp, and radeon 9600 124 mb ddr vid card = no problems. And the only crashes I've had are from clicking links to their pages which are no longer active. As for slow dancers, they dance at a slow pace when the beat is slow. and if you want them all dancing the same then get the "dancefloor" pluging. So for those of you interested in this pluging be forewarned that it is graphic intesive and you need a decent pc to run it correctly. and for those of you who nock it, dont say its crap just because your computer cant handle it. - January 25, 2005 by Michael Jewell
One the Best Old School Plugins out there! - This is STILL By Far the best Plugin I've played with in years. Customizable spotlight. Built in IRC Client, a CHilZone if you can find it still on the net. Optional player dancers if you can find them. I'm currentlly trying to compile a ftp CD so everyone can get a hold them. Since MediaDome went out of buisness alot of you out there are asking where do I go to find teh old school dancers and add on chill zone lounge. Well true believers keep your eyes peels on the forums and ears to the grapevine. Your wishs and requests are being listened to. I'm just needing time is all. Although anyone that has any other players please feel free to goto the forums and ask around. You can be heard! - September 10, 2004 by Steven Lundberg
VIRUS! - ALL THIS PIECE OF SCHIST DID WAS LOCK UP AND TRY TO DELETE MY WIN AMP! - January 25, 2003 by P Devries
That max thornton guy takes it in the ass - This plugin sucks ass so bad all the people involved in its development should be lined up against a wall and have their heads ripped off while I piss down their necks. I'm running a 4th generation IBM deep blue super-computer with 46 nodes and the most advanced graphics hardware money can buy this millenium and it still runs slower than my sinclair spectrum. I am scared of my friends coming in while I am running this gay plugin with all these faggot anime characters prancing around my web-browser.. What a gay-ass idea. This plugin is strictly for girls and transexuals only. - November 12, 2002 by sjdafhlkjds ghjghghk
Intresting - Well, there are quite a few mixed reviews about this viz, but in my opinion, this things pretty good. I've scanned my pc and the file i downloaded and no virus was present (sorry Brian G). Support for this product no longer exist (thus 4 stars instead of 5). I like being able to browse the web while in this vis, and skin downloads for the dancers are pretty cool. Havn't tried the chat yet tho. - August 27, 2002 by Madjik 2k
too many biased, hasty generalizations. - The developers of this plug-in gave it for free, and yet most of you rant like company shareholders. Anyway, this plug-in is no longer supported by the developers (thus the three stars), so all your curses now fall on deaf (nonexistent) ears. During its time, I was a user of this plug-in and I haven't experienced any problems. I ran it on a variety of computers and OS'es, from a P2 desktop to a P3 laptop, on Windows 98 and Windows 2000, and even with and without hardware acceleration. So with this, I leave a note to all you naysayers, that you first look into your drivers and hardware, and possibly software conflicts. This thing requires an OpenGL card and the corresponding driver. Make sure you get an updated and stable driver. Windows and x86 PC's have arguably the most diverse hardware configurations, and therefore have the greatest chance to have compatibility problems. And never judge a program, much more pass a review, if you've run it only once for thirty or so seconds. Now, about the dancers dancing out of sync, well, the program uses a beat-detection algorithm on top of the 3D engine, and it only runs when music is playing (hence the slowdown while playing). Only then will the dancers perform their specialized and varied dance moves. And remember that the algo is an adaptive one, and may get out of lock every so often, especially for songs without any solid beat manifesting in its waveform. And yes, those moves WILL lag if you don't have a nice computer. So my advice to "|33+" P4 owners out there, lower the graphics detail (which you've probably maxed out) and give your computer some headroom to do the beat detection. Your hardware, though fast, isn't THAT fast. Lastly, for those poor souls who got viruses, are you sure you weren't running KaZaA (downloading porno) or surfing porn sites while running the plug-in? Those aforementioned programs have much more potential to be sources of viruses than this plug-in, I promise you that. ;) - August 8, 2002 by rv21 rv21
TOPPER - Not a bad plugin lots to do but poor when it came to using the net from inside the program and no way to chat to others oh and wheres the other dancers your suppose to be able to download eh......... - July 2, 2002 by TOM TOPP
No Longer Supported :( - Having had problems downloading the Chillzone (bad CRC) and a few other problems, I contacted Mediazone Support and got the following response. "Unfortunately mediadome no longer actively supports the product to which your inquiry is directed. If you continue to experience problems, we'd recommend uninstalling the product. mediadome technical support" Sad because otherwise an exellent plug-in!!! - April 9, 2002 by Andrew Not telling
sux like a B*@#$ - every time i use this pice of shiznit it keeps on freezin up on my azz so i deleted tha crap - March 30, 2002 by tony phomsopha
Worthless - Great idea but performance wise, crap. I have a Pentium 4, 256ram, gforce2 32mb, RUNS THIS PLUG IN LIKE CRAP. You should take the idea of these dope graphics, a reflection of Jet Grind Radio, and make it specific to dancing. A lot of potential but this program sucks. - March 29, 2002 by Ron Joe Asurualim Fire
THIS IS AWESOME!!! - DON'T LISTEN TO ALL OF THOSE OTHER MOTHERFUCKIN' ASSHOLES THAT SAY IT GAVE THEM VIRUSES AND SHIT. THE TRUTH IS THAT THIS PLUGIN IS AWESOME, STATE-OF-THE-ART MUSIC MATERIAL!I WOULD ONLY RECCOMEND IT IF YOU HAVE A GOOD GRAPHICS CARD AND A 600mhz OR BETTER PROSCESSOR. OTHER THAN THAT, THE MOVES ARE NOT REPETITIVE IF YOU CHANGE SKINS FOR THE DANCERS, MOVES FOR THE DANCERS, SHAPES FOR THE DANCERS, ETC. THIS PLUGIN ALSO HAS A BAR, A DJ, DANCE STAGE, CHILL LOUNGE(if you download it),AND HAS KEWL PC SCREENS THAT HANG DOWN. YOU CAN CLICK ON THE SCREENS AND GO TO DIFFERENT SITES. OR YOU CAN SET BLANK SCREENS TO GO TO WHATEVER SITE YOU WANT; IT EVEN FETCHES A PIC OF THE HOMEPAGE OF THAT SITE FOR YOU AND PUTS IT ON THE SCREEN. WHEN YOU PLAY MUSIC, THE DANCERS ACTUALLY PERFORM BETTER MOVES THAN IF NONE IS PLAYING. IT EVEN GETS INFO. ABOUT THE SONG AND THROWS IT UP ON A BIGSCREEN ABOVE THE DANCEFLOOR... THIS PLUGIN IS THE BEST, IT IS AWESOME. IT COMES WITH A BUILTIN BROWSER. THIS IS DA' BOMB. SCREW YA ALL WHO THINK IT SUCKS, 'CAUSE IT DON'T. PEACE OUT. - March 16, 2002 by Chris Webber
cool - i like it i could j/o to this - March 5, 2002 by david wenger
zzzzzzzzz - it looked pretty cool, dl it and it is rather BORING teach those girls to dance to the music playin not the music in their head...I dont like being asked do you want to access mediadome? everytime I play my win amp! - January 31, 2002 by Mandy B
i dunno.......who knows? - i dunno...really....this thing looks cool at first...but 20 minutes after use it (for the first time, actually), i had to restart my computer...the 'best' part is: it happened everytime i use this plug-in...'very nice'...:(....>got some bugs to be fixed.... - December 9, 2001 by 'aiNNa eNGiNe

verschrikkelijk - wat een rotzooi, flikker toch op, ga vissen ofzo - August 12, 2001 by kuifje from holland
Not Worth It... - Maybe if the guy that made Giess and MilkDrop helped out this might be better. It makes my Radeon VE 2x-4x AGP 32 MB DDR look like a piece of crap, and my Philips PSC704 4-Channel Surround with 3D Sound support sound like crap. I also have 256 megs of RAM. So I know it is not me. - August 3, 2001 by Jeffrey Wilges
OK I am confused - This is a little confusing. The dj in this and the robot thing, are like the same as the ones in the old MPEG dancer. Ok, my apologies for my confusion, but it still sucks. If I wanna chat or surf the web, I can use AOL! - July 29, 2001 by Francis Guidera
This is absolutely Fantastic - This is tha greatest Plugin I've ever seen. I hope it will live long and be upgraded continuously - July 19, 2001 by Stefan Schellauf
cool idea tho - when i first looked at it on my old geforce 256 it looked promising for it's time.now i have a gefore 3 and its just faster and little else.but i have to thank it for all the websites it automatically fetched for me when i otherwise wouldnt have cared,in its own window in 3d space...would like to see the little holes on the side open up to connect to other downloadable rooms...and the dance moves do get a little repetitive when you have watched them for the umpteenth time....and the beat detection that powers the dancing doesnt always turn out right...for some reason,www.mediadome.com doesnt mention this winamp plugin...save a little 'proof of concept' link in http://www.mediadome.com/technologies/index.asp - July 9, 2001 by Tai Chow Sing
nice anime plugin - it's a nice plugin ....the graphics are not bad ...but mind u it works on a geforce nvidia card ... - June 17, 2001 by Kareem Hanna
Great Plugin - Excellent renders with many options, The best and only virtual dance club. Great overall quality but rather hardware intensive. Also needs more frequent updates and more characters. Can get unstable after a while. - June 14, 2001 by Richard Sensale
WOw fun! - I love it. Its cool to mess with and its cool what it does with your mp3s. I also like the upgrades for it to change the dancers and make each dancer look different. Gotta download this asap. - May 30, 2001 by Thomas Lemieux
Hmmmm - Not as impressive as a llama on the run. Not what it said it was and short of its claims. - May 21, 2001 by Bhen Linton
BAD - It wasnt what i thought it would be. - April 30, 2001 by Keith Masanz
Sluggish on a Nvidia2 Card. - The dancers were just fine, albeit the programming must be atrocious. If I didn't have a web-browser ALREADY, I wouldn't have been able to download this, so why did they throw one in to add even further lag and system overload? First time I ran it, it worked for about ten minutes, then crashed. - April 16, 2001 by Robert Hawthorne
I was disappointed - That plug-in looked really cool but I quickly removed it from my computer. It was far from being as impressive as it seemed. - March 30, 2001 by Twilight Seer
