Template Amp
Skinning Tool for You
Skinning Tool for You
Updated for Winamp 2.9
This is a Template and not intended to be used as 'normal' skin
- Shows exact position of all sensible areas
- Uses gray scales only for easy semitransparent template layers
- Has a 10 x 10 pixel grid as background for easy positioning
- No 3D effects for easy borders finding
- The markings in the bmp files help you deal with bugs and borders of all areas
- includes templates for the must-have plugin MikroAmp, together with a html template to skin the inner MB area
- now updated for WinAmp 2.9x. The library is not a real aesthetical experience, however the used colors in genex.bmp are easily to identify. Please refer to genexinfo.txt
- includes a template for the DFX plugin
Additional bmp files to help you design and crop your skin:
skeleton.bmp - use this as design layer
frames.bmp - use this to crop the skin's components in your grafix program
cropper.bmp - use this to crop when assembling your skin's bmp files
To get to the files, locate and rename the skin file Template.wsz to Template.zip and unzip it
happy skinning
enjoy cyana ;)

Wonderful toolthank you cyana,I'm sure this will help many people skin winamp and hopefully encourage them to use your template as a skinning tool rather than a skinner.exe program.Skin Review Squad.

You sure know what template is! - The grayscale effects really help, so do the coloured borders of particular bitmaps (such as shufrep.bmp) but on main.bmp could u put any indication of where the counter numbers r gonna appear? - January 30, 2006 by Stefan Rosic
Bleh. - I wish I had found this before I made my skin. I'd have had much less trouble. Thanks. - September 24, 2003 by TOGoS o S
Great job. - It's very nice to have a great template like this. You know, I had a feeling that there would be some idiots who actually thought this skin was intended for looks. Guess they aren't familiar with the word template. Anyway, this is very useful. I have had nothing but troubles trying to make my own skins before, but I just might be able to make one with the help of this. - May 8, 2003 by Nazo San
heh - Its pretty good... but... It seems a little plain. - May 8, 2003 by Ari Sweet

Thank You - Thanks for this skin! It was really hard using the base skin to make my own, this is really helpful. Not that bad as just a skin either. - January 3, 2003 by Karl He

MY IDEA...? - Yo, I was about half finished making a template amp and typing up a tutorial when I downloaded molson amp 1.0 and read the info. Inside he thanked Mischa Clement for making template amp. So now it seems my work was pointless. - August 6, 2002 by Matt Hall
nifty. - i'm with the 'it looks great by itself' camp. of course, i have no idea how you're supposed to use it otherwise. - August 3, 2002 by sarra -
Great Job - This is a great skin. It is excellent in helping you make a skin of your own. Plus, it looks great as a skin by itself. It has a very contemporary look. GREAT JOB!!! - July 26, 2002 by Pup Pupster

Tutorial inside... - Very useful skin! Thanks for sharing it. (Rename *.wsz to *.zip, unzip, have fun using the bitmap templates.) Cheers! - May 10, 2002 by Alfred Das
Wish I found this first ! - I enlarged a .wsz file and counted the pixels to make my own template. I got 275 pixels across, or 75 pixels per inch etc. and by counting yours (grouped in 10s') I get 27.5 - the exact same. My skinning is poor but at least my math is ok... - May 4, 2002 by richard allen
Used it, loved it - My friend in skinning. - April 26, 2002 by Matthew B
Great job - If you're just starting out making skins, this is the tool you need! It takes the guesswork out of making a skin. Thanks! - April 9, 2002 by Jim Todd
Thank you - Before I found this, skinning was hard, but once I started using it everything became clear, and I even found I was doing some things incorrecly. Thank you. Oh, and to those of you who are rating this 0 stars because it is boring and has no colour, it is a TEMPLATE -- an excellent developpers tool and NOT a skin!! - April 9, 2002 by AJ Ashton
YOU LEDGEND!!! - Thank god some one made such a usefull tool!!! I never would have tryed gettin into skining otherwise. It makes everything so much easier! - March 30, 2002 by Daniel Niedoba
Err... - Err... How do I use the template? There's no folder for it, so I can't look at the images. - March 25, 2002 by WinnDozer Yawn

Thank you! - This was a great help. I've tried a few times to make Winamp skins and always got frustrated trying to start from the default skin. This made it much easier, and I've finally completed a halfway decent skin. ^_^ - November 13, 2001 by Liz (aestas caerulea)
damn good - hell, not just useful... it works well as a skin too! - November 6, 2001 by Draen Stoji
To use... - Winamp's .wsz files are just regular .zip files, just renamed to tell them apart. Just use Winzip (or whatever you use on .zip archives) to extract the archive. It'll have a bunch of bitmaps and cursor files in it. Just open the bitmaps in whatever image processing program you use, and off you go! Nice template, btw. I'm using it right now to make a skin to go along with my KDE theme. - October 26, 2001 by Erin C
WOW! - SUPERCOOL! I've used it on my first skin! Thanks to this template skin i didn't waste my time on finding the position of the buttons etc. I love it! - October 16, 2001 by Bouke Versteegh
At last! - A decent template to work off ^_^. Thanks Cyana! - October 7, 2001 by Lucidium aka David Mear
Yess - I needed one of these! If you want to use it as a template (only on WINDOWS though) load winamp and pick this skin. Go to windows/temp directory. File called was3848489.tmp or something similar is there. Open it, pull out the files to another folder then do your skin! Sorry 4 taking over a bit there!! Love this skin - October 3, 2001 by James Bond
