NonStep - Featured Skin, January 30, 2003.

Staff review

Perfect fit.

The last word in thin stick skins, all you ever need in one made to fit skin, need AVS ?, it's there, need an alarm clock, it's there, great work , lots of themes to fit your desktop.

ok - ok - August 26, 2007 by Alessandro Motta

Oh. it's so cute! - The look is nice-if you like Mac OS 7. Display font is clear, the played file info set up nicely; but it draws a blank when you select preferences, the ugly "thinger" icons acream early 1990s and watch out now, you're stuck in the world of tiny avs's. Want to get used to it? Fine. Some skins' learning curves are rewarding. The Onestep isn't one of them. No thanx. - August 23, 2007 by doug cooley

semih - semihhh - August 15, 2007 by semih bilge

Very nice - Love the skin, it fits perfectly with the rest of my setup. Any chance of getting a white-on-black version? - March 5, 2006 by Jaren Lewis

May Be The Best - I have waaaay too many skins on my machine and have tried many more this may very well be the best most functional skin yet. Simple, clean and light. - October 10, 2005 by Jason Elliott

Greeaaaat! - Have used a lot of players and Winamp for many years! I found out about this skin about 6 months ago and was really surprised and happy about the functionality and the fact that its really light for your computer! I love the simple design of the player and offcourse the 'built-in' alarm...Love to wake up with music! So go NonStep hehe! - September 15, 2005 by Fharly Ajoeb

Unique, functional, and amazing... - NonStep is a truly amazing skin -- utilizes the modern skinning interface without trying to be too flashy, an extremly unique and functional interface that still manages to be stylish. In all my years of using WinAmp, I've only abandoned the default look for one other skin (Compact by Pertev Erenberk) -- and for only a short time at that -- but I can see myself using NonStep for awhile to come. - August 27, 2005 by Jimmy Casey

Reeaaaaly goood!!! - Usability taken to as far as possible. A clean, clear and intuitive interface never seen. Simple and easy. And beautiful as well. A nice job done by Adam Boatright. - July 26, 2005 by Andre Gallas

This rocks! - As an old fan and user of LS I must say, thank you carrying the theme over to WimAmp. I am very impressed with the simplicity of the theme and clarity. Thanks! - January 21, 2005 by tony mazur

I Hate It - I saw someone commenting on the fact that there's a built in alarm, well GET A PLUGIN!!! There are a number of alarms out there (I use Winamp Alarm) The only reason i gave it a star is because it's a great idea, but the implementation SUCKS ASS!! - November 24, 2004 by Michael Braedley

I love you!!! - Now I can wake up to my music! No more nasty radios! Hahahaha...I love it. Thanks! - November 3, 2004 by Vivian Tong

really amazing ! - the best skin ! i really LOVE it ! it's so simple, minimalistic ! it's fantastic ! - October 9, 2004 by olivier pire

Auto-Hide - Why don't more skins autohide? This is one of the top skins that I've got. I like the good looking ones, but that's all they're good for. This one is 100% function. Excellent Job!!! The only thing missing is Notify. - September 4, 2004 by Mike Necessary

best and only skin for winamp - best skin one can get... 10 star - July 21, 2004 by El_Angelo verstraete

Great skin - The best skin ever!! - July 4, 2004 by Maciek Gabka

O_O - Sure the best skin ever, fantastic ! Didn't download it yet ? GO !! - May 30, 2004 by Daniel P

Absolutly The Best Skin Ever - I almost cried when I saw how well this skin works. It's practical and easy to use, Look's great on your desktop, plus new features that will not disapoint the user. WARNING: By Not Downloading NonStep You Will Be Missing Out On The Best Skin Winamp Has Ever Offered. Seriously. - April 12, 2004 by Brian Shmackfelter

BEST SKIN EVER - u gotta love this skin many diff colours to suit ur desktop and many functions!!! totally rock!!! download now and give it a try and i can assure u u wont regret it... - March 27, 2004 by King Tan

The Last Skin I Need - This is truely the last skin I may need. To answer some of the morons that can't get it working... there is a seek/progress indicator in the EQ area, the CTL is the specialized control panel, and to go backwards as far as numbers go you just right click the number. Oh, and by the way, skins don't crash anything, all the other stupid software on your computer does. This only takes up like 10x50 pixels when it is autohiding and sliding from the left or right. The only way to make it better it to maybe add a function to switch the thinger with the eq or the visualization. This is an awesome skin, I would recommend it to anyone. - March 9, 2004 by Jared White

Excellent skin for high resolutions! - This is an amazing skin, and one of the first skins I could keep at 100% scaling in 1280x1024 resolution without going blind squinting! Also, if you use the very popular Orion Cobalt windowblinds skin, you will enjoy the way the [Blue] color scheme included with this skin makes the two look as if they were made to be used together. My recommendation for getting the most out of this skin is to, on a 1280x1024 desktop, dock it right above the start menu, enable Always On Top (CTRL+A), set Opacity to 10-40% depending on your taste (I use 10%) and set Opaque on Hover. This way, Winamp will always be slightly visible right above your start menu, but not covering any applications or important function buttons, and when you move the mouse over it BOOM, right back to 100% opacity. Enjoy this awesome skin! - January 28, 2004 by Mickey Boyd

sweet - dude this skin is so sweet . has everything u need. is there a version without the thinger? or is any way u could disable it ? if anyone knows please email me at [email protected] ! thanks congratulations for this great skin adam :) - January 27, 2004 by teh yosh

Fantastic - This is a great functional skin that also looks great. Has some great extra features like an alarm and much more. MUST DOWNLOAD !! - January 2, 2004 by Steven Weber

OK, I'm an idiot, BUT.... - Really nice skin, BUT How the hell do I manipulate it? I read on review mention a control button? PLEASE provide some basic instructions on window/module placement! - December 1, 2003 by Ralph Gallardo

EXCELLENT - This is the most useful skin that I've found and the only one that I use. Hard to find any flaws. This skin is NOT: -Another visualization machine. -An elaborate art project with hard-to-find buttons. -A slightly modified original like many others. This skin IS: -Easy to see. -Easy to use from the first time. -Easily kept out of the way. -Made using common sense. - October 31, 2003 by William Balogh

WoW - This skin is amazing. It is always locked to bottom of my desktop and your control button makes it. Thanks for a superb skin. One of the best - October 26, 2003 by neil c

perfect - this is what i have always been looking for... sleek and manageable, great job - September 7, 2003 by Chuck Combs

Great Auto-Hide Feature - This is the best skin I've ever seen and I'll stick to this for another decade or so... - September 7, 2003 by Beansterizon Hamburgerster

not bad - It's cool to see that there are SEEABLE buttons. I don't like it very much but you did a good job - August 26, 2003 by Brent Dixon

Amazing - One of the best skins out there. It has a ton of great features that should be in all skins. - August 18, 2003 by Eric Hysen

Very Different - Not to hard to get to grips to and it remins me of spinner ( whic was always dockable at the bottom in one long player ). I likes it..could do with a little more eye candy so i`m looking forward to mark2. - June 22, 2003 by Blues Joshua

OMG! - well the title may have been a tad over the top. but none the less, this skin is well, great. Its funtional, looks sleek and stylish and i love the added extras. GOOD WORK! - June 7, 2003 by andy seymour

Pure style, outstanding in use! - You simply don't get bored in looking at it! Great Work! - June 5, 2003 by Markus Jaeger

Hm - I didn't notice anything glitchy about it, mine didn't crash at all. It did earlier when I was in some "Classic" WinAmp skin but that wasn't the excuse that popped up.. It was a bit confusing, but there are instructions.. Great! I like how you can just dock it at the top or bottom of your page and it will only take up a bit of space, it's nice. I wish there were more colors. - May 30, 2003 by Miss Deceptions

Whoa tbh - Well ive gotta say, this is one of the best skins ive ever used. the BOOM skin is my second fav, but i prefer the stick so i can hide it. i love the alarm clock and as my pc is constantly on it wakes me up in a morn cus its great with my surround sound :o fantastic skin, looks fantastic. THE ONLY thing i can find is that when im settin the alarm, i cant cycle backwards on the numbers, gotta go aaaaaaaaaaaaaall the way round. but that dont matter, absolutley fantastic in my opinion. - May 22, 2003 by Matthew Jarvis

Everything I could want... - This skin is truly the best. I love the alarm feature. I love the fact that I can leave it running and it doesn't use up a lot of space on my screen. Download this puppy! - May 6, 2003 by Planet Abyss

could be better - great work, but i wish you could have included the playlist editor in the skin when it is snapped to the bottom or top :( - May 5, 2003 by Sarah Fagan

sweet skin - Looks great, works great, and I can't find a thing wrong with it. Finally someone came out with a skin that can hide and has everything nice and big. Thanks man. - April 8, 2003 by C H

It's a great concept, wonderfully exectued... - But why so damn glitchy? I almost switched from MMD3, before my Winamp crashed repeatedly for some reason. Keep up the good work man, I hope to see a new & improved version soon. - April 2, 2003 by Ray Brown

minimize answered - hey, to all of you guys asking for a minimize function, it's there - just press the CTL button and number 2 option from the top is minimize! - March 29, 2003 by Stefan Ertmann

Great simple to use skin, minor nuances - I'd like to commend the creator of this skin on producing a very functional usable skin. This skin is easy to learn; unfortunately, there still appears to be morons reviewing this skin that have trouble using such a simple clear skin. I really like the alarm and sleep timer. However there are a few things I'd like to point out for improvement. 1. The "Goodnight" standalone addon sleep timer script (which you can find in the Winamp community forums) by Will Fisher seems to conflict with YOUR adaptation of his sleep timer. Therefore, I have to use another skin using the standalone sleep timer to use winamp as a sleep timer. 2. Your skin seems to forget it's previous position after I close Winamp or switch to another skin. 3. It'd be preferable if, when you open the playlist editor it displayed/selected the last playlist that was playing i.e. I had "Playlist 001" playing before i closed the playlist, once i open it again, i have to select Playlist 001 to see it's songs. - March 26, 2003 by El Phantasmo

This Skin Sucks !!!!!! - This is the worst bloody user friendly skin ever! When I try to change the skin from the normal colors of Orange and White i can't. You cannot resize, move or separate any of the boxes. When the skin loaded t was at the op of my screen and was on 800 and i cudn;'t move it. That !@#$%^& move free thing is a waste of time, if it can move on 1024 and not on 800 then the move free is just a crock of bullshit! Overall this skin is shit and its no help to someone who is new to skins so this peice of shi gets no stars from me! - March 24, 2003 by Giridhar Penumarti

Very Nice Integration - This thing fits so well into my desktop. It's just the type of skin that I was looking for. Also since I leave my computer on every night, it also provides me with a solution for a cheap alarm clock. It takes advantage of space which is always a plus, one of the more annoying features of other winamp skins is their bulkiness. Even with 2 monitors, I am really confined for desktop real estate and this skin allows me to retain full control over my music while still working/playing games. Overall very clean interface and excellent features are incoporated into this skin. - March 22, 2003 by David Zhang

good - pretty - March 9, 2003 by ecorche MUN

Function. Asthetic appeal. Easy to use. - This is the skin i have been waiting for. It looks professional, it is made purely for function, and it extremely effecient. I particularly like the autohide feature. The simplicity of the windows bring out its clear colors and it dosent get old. Nice job. - March 4, 2003 by Jesse Jackson

It's God - Yea, I'm thinking NonStep is the best skin I ever downloaded. It's especially convenient for people who leave their computers on all the time. I mean with NonStep it?s totally automated. As long as you have a playlist you can set it to wake you up at a certain time and fade out when you go to sleep. As far as the skin, the color, the font, everything?s great. Personally the only revisions I would make would be a close window button, and I would give the user an option to close the thinger, and maybe a more diverse set of color themes, but that?s just my opinion. All in all this skin is God. - February 26, 2003 by Abijah Overman

form follows function - this is the first time, i'm really happy with a skin. It doesen't have that typical overloaded Design. "form follows function" is a good description and means that I also like the Design - it's proffessional. Who ever developed it, go on with useful stuff like that. - February 23, 2003 by Adam Lorek

Excellent - I really like the idea behind the skin! I just wish it was in blue because that is what my XP theme is. Excellent job though :) - February 20, 2003 by Suraj Mansukhani

Best. Skin. Ever. - A very, very, very awesome skin. I honestly don't think that you need any other skin. You can seek (fast foreward), contrary to what Amos W said. It just takes a few seconds to get used to, then it's smooth sailing. - February 20, 2003 by Ryan Reamsbottom

Oops! Very clever..:P - If this could be more thin :)) I'll give you 5 stars for good idea, and remember! You must make your next skin !!!!!!!! Just like this but with color themes and more pleasing visuality :P - February 19, 2003 by TheCwirek! Poland

Great skin - I love the skin, it works perfect for having it open at the same time as working in another window, you can see everything. A few problems I noticed, maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Playlist clears when minimized. I have skin set to snap to bottom, when I open it, it snaps to top. Other than those small complaints I am truly impressed with this skin, and will continue to use this skin exclusively. - February 14, 2003 by Chris B

Simply the best!!! - This is simply the best skin ever created. Nothing complicated, but most of all, it has an integrated timer/alarm. The various color schemes are "right-on". Get it if ain't got it. - February 13, 2003 by John Whitworth

One of the best Compact skins - Realy one of the best Compact skins. Problems: No Fast Forward, changing preferences sometimes makes the skin disappear with no to view again. - February 13, 2003 by Amos W

Just cewl! - Since Winamp 3 normally takes up to about 5 to 10 seconds for loading it's interface (I got a Pentium 3 800 with 704 megs of ram), this skin really comes in handy. I also got a self-created task-bar with my avaiable drives at the top of my desktop. And this Skin just pops up when I hit it on the top left corner. Great job and now Winamp 3 loads as fast as Winamp 2 does. :) Creed - February 12, 2003 by John Smith

thank you Mr. Boatright - I think I may have a plethora of skins and this skin has taken the cake. Fits perfectly up top and will autohide, fits the lenght of my screen (and you can even choose what length you want it according to your resolution). Everything you could need is on there and to top it off, it looks good. Good job, and I won't be d/l another skin w00t - February 12, 2003 by Agent Worm

Great!! - NonStep is the coolest skin ever. I ve never tryed skins befor because they don't look interesting. But yours is really great! Auf jeden, the coolest ever! danke...! - February 9, 2003 by west berlin

Diggin' Simplicity - Hey Adam, outta all the winamp skins I've been through I can actually say this is the one I've been looking for. I love the simplicity, and it's so functional. Some say it's not fun to look at, but I'm loving the look. Fits my taste perfectly, especially the simple bar equalizer visualization. Thanx!!!!!!!!!!!! - February 9, 2003 by Rawley Rhinehart

Good work, my son! - Great concept! Light weight!! and Functional!!! - February 8, 2003 by velkr0 velkr0

Nice idea, but no progress bar for the songs - for opacity, just hit ctrl+right click (works on all skins) - February 7, 2003 by P C

PIMP - This is by far the best skin, the alarm clock function is PIMP. All you people that can't figure it out are lazy bums, just play around w/ it a bit :) - February 5, 2003 by Sergei S

issues w\ multimedia keyboard - I really like the skin and all the new bells and whistles, however I cant seem to get my multimedia keys on my keyboard to work w\ this skin. Perhaps I am overlooking something stupid or maybe it they just arent compatible yet. Either way if someone could answer my querey I would be most appreciative. - February 5, 2003 by nunya bidness

Great Work - Great functional skin. Most excellent. :) - February 4, 2003 by Ryube Tan

Worst Skin Ever - it made winamp crash consistently after about half an hour of use 3 times. I love the look, hate that it crashed. - February 4, 2003 by Fred Pearson

very nice - nice skin - February 4, 2003 by Augusto Moser

Playlist is Screwy - Great skin, love the alarm. My only complaint is that the playlist clears whenever you minimize it, and I have to load a saved one everytime. - February 3, 2003 by Rob Bell

Functionality - Simple sleek and easy on the eyes. very nice. - February 3, 2003 by Matthew Shipp

What a skin should be. - It has everything you're going to need out of a skin with a simple to use, good-looking interface and it wont clutter your desktop. (for mr Harris - the song progress slider is cryptically called 'seek' and its in with the equaliser... ahem) I for one won't be downloading any more skins. - February 2, 2003 by Tobin Jones

Slider Answered - Great Skin! There is only one problem, there doesn't seem to be any dark palette schemes. That may clash with some person's desktop. Anyway, Someone mentioned not knowing how to move through the songs, to that person: Check the equalizer. ;) - February 2, 2003 by Gameboy Hippo

Excellent - only one word describes it... Discusting!!!! - February 1, 2003 by bobsit bobsiter

excellent skin - truly great skin...congrats...i've got a problem thou, it crashes when i choose to exit winamp, in (winXP)...i don't know it's just me or...if i can fix that i wouldn't be changing skin any more ;) keep up the good work - January 30, 2003 by druvar pema

yeah - I like this, excellent work! - January 29, 2003 by VooDoo`

Opacity? - Here's another little detail that could be added - a song progress slider. I'm unable to figure out how to adjust the opacity. Can anyone help? - January 29, 2003 by Sammy Harris

NICE - I REALLY LIKE THIS SKIN but there is one problem with it-i think this is on my computer only though. the smallest size does not fit the right half of the options(volime and seek, goodnight, etc) on my screen. maybe i just didnt read the manual correctly, it is sorta late when i am writing this. En espanol: Me gusta este. Hay una problama, pero es pequena. Este es mu largo para mi monitor. Es de la noche aqui. - January 28, 2003 by Michael Lichterman

yessss - i figured out how to do scale/opacity and it is now flawless - January 28, 2003 by lyra belacqua

Oh WOW! - Easy to use, easy to read, easy on the eyes, and it doesn't take up the whoel screen with pretty graphics. Now THIS is what I've been looking for all along! Well, maybe not that extreme, I mean it's not going to pay the pizza man for me, but this is definately my favourite. If only I had a windowblinds or Style XP skin to go along with it, hint hint :) - January 26, 2003 by Reid Towsley

Absolutely brilliant. - This skin blows all the other skins for WA3 out of the f***ing water. Adam you don't need to worry about the competition because you don't have any after this skin. You're in a league of your own. Awesome job. I look forward to your next skin, as does everyone else I think. - January 26, 2003 by Mark McCulloch

functional - very useful and full of brand new figures you'd never think possible... good work! - January 25, 2003 by Sophia M.

Exactly what I've been looking for - I seriously love this skin. Great styling, features, layout. I really wish more Winamp 3 skins were this good, but for now this is the only one I'll be using. Only one problem I've run into with it. I currently have it set to snap to bottom and autohide left. However, in WinXP if I lock my computer and then unlock my computer (something I do frequently) Winamp 3 then shows up as displayed even though it was hidden when I locked my machine. However, then it appears to turn off the autohide even though the option is still marked in the menu. I have to turn autohide off and then back on again and then it works fine. Not critical, but annoying just the same. Great skin though, fix that and I won't be able to think of anything else I would change. - January 25, 2003 by raven --

Perfect - This skin roxx... it has everything you need and it's easy to hide below in your screen.. - January 25, 2003 by Klaas Broersma

Really good - This is really good. Simple, functional, legible and just about everything at your fingertips. This will be one of my favorites. - January 25, 2003 by James Miller

Nice - I like - January 25, 2003 by Can't Tell

I'm first.. :) - well, I just gotta write a comment on this, since I've been beta testing and suggesting alot of features during the process of development.. It turned out really good, one of the best! But I'm not done yet with the suggestions and Pipe knows it! :) Very good work both of you, Pipe and Ertmann. I seriously love this skin! -Plague - January 24, 2003 by Linus Brolin
