Hals Eye v1_2 - Inpired by 2001-Odysee in space

Staff review

The allseeing red eye is watching your every move, beware.

Since you need a manual with this skin, it definatly is not the most functional layout.

zupeerrr.. great work! - August 22, 2010 by budHeL KU

Fantastic - August 1, 2010 by [email protected]

jep jep - June 28, 2010 by [email protected]

Fantastic! - Thank you so much for the fabulous skin. It's easy to use, the user's manual at installation is very helpful, and I love the various color and visual options you have included. Thank you! Wonderful skin! - May 13, 2008 by Jessica Hall

Very good - A really modern look , very interesting visualization ! - April 4, 2008 by Andrei Stoev

just awesome!!!! - it's great!!! love it - March 8, 2008 by Andrada Eliana

Finally!!!... - Finally something that is compact and combines design with functionality. I was looking for something like this for a long time. Takes a bit time to get used to the buttons, but after you get used to it, it becomes as easy as operating your watch. And I loved the zillions of colours it comes with. It can be easily adopted to the color theme of almost any desktop. So it gets a big 5 from me. - September 24, 2007 by Gyrgy Laky

GREAT! - Wery nice skin! - September 12, 2007 by Maciej Pokorski

What a cool skin! - it is a little tough to nagigate after you close the manual but it's pretty niffty, and i love the color options - August 6, 2007 by Sam L.

I love it! - This is my favorite so far. And as far as the functional layout mentioned in the staff review I disagree. It's extremely easy to use. So it has a 30 second manual to read through? Any idiot can handle that. The features are layed out beautifully and it looks so good. Everything is easy to use and find despite being so compact. It's just lovely. I also agree with the review (for the most part) by: by Jonathan Morley Sep. 24, 2004 I did give this a five out of five though instead of the four he did. Alot of things just look so much alike and this is a big step away from the same old thing. Well done! Even years later it's still more interesting than most everything else here. - February 5, 2007 by Megin Johnson

One of my Faves! - This is one of my all-time faves here on WinAmp.com; I use it a lot. I love this skin... it's so different and reminds me of something you might observe on a UFO or something. Most excellent skin! ^.^ - January 9, 2007 by Kellyann Malkowski

Nice - This is one good skin..! Nicely worked out design and some good effects.. - October 30, 2006 by Maris Apsitis

I'm Sorry Dave... - A fantastic skin which reflects a fantastic movie!!! Well Done - this one is certainly in my top 3 which i will keep for all time!! One thing though......would have been even better if Hal's eye was bigger - that would be the icing on the cake! Cheers! - July 24, 2006 by Chris Nicholson

funkiest Skin in this Galaxy - looks great and it?s easy to use. - July 3, 2006 by jojo gzx

Ohhhhhh... great work! - Yes! Thats the one i was looking for. Thanks - May 25, 2006 by Coyote privat

one of the best - this skin is awesomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee - April 28, 2006 by porn star

Nice - It's just cool ;) - March 27, 2006 by Caroline Lie

Revolutionary. - This is THE coolest skin on the site, and the best possible skin you could hope to find. It's small and compact, sweet looking, and comes with tons of customizable effects, including visualizations, and themes. The skin comes with a tutorial manual once you download it, and after reading it and messing around with the skin itself, you will easily be able to navigate changing songs, loading playlists and all that jazz. The tutorial and configuration menus are available at any time from the right click menu for Winamp. It takes getting used to, but I think you will agree, this is an amazing skin, and you will be hard pressed to find anything cooler looking, or innovative on the site. Download it now if you haven't already. - March 21, 2006 by Neilus Erwdads

5/5 - Great and rich skin, but it will be better with a shortcut to the playlist editor. 5/5 anyway. - March 18, 2006 by trotter poulpe

Yeah, - that's it. After a long search I found it: easy(you just need a minute for manual) and everything you need!!!And the idea of HAL is the best!!! - March 1, 2006 by Joerne Haase

Minimalist heaven - I like my screen free of clutter, and really don't need excess information scattered about, so generally run WinAmp straight from the Taskbar, but your skin is clean enough that it fits in perfectly, so actually earns precious desktop space on my laptop: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinplicity/98211614/ I can give no higher praise. - February 11, 2006 by Greg Knight

i think i`ts the best skin - great ,keep away,i`ts good job - January 14, 2006 by dorin albescu

This is absolutely the best skin I've had... - Very functional, love the visualization and theme, and very compact for the desktop real estate impared. I truly "will never need another skin!" - December 15, 2005 by John Hartzler

Hot Skin - For people that like compact, stylish, and functional skins - this is it. Very clean and colorful Good Work! - December 3, 2005 by Drew Caldwell

brilliant - i love this skin - November 24, 2005 by george boddey

Playlist scrolling - this skin looks great and once youve worked out how to use it..(read the manual) it is easy. I been using it 10 minutes and the first major problem i have noticed is if you're in playlist and you try to scroll up and down with a mouse wheel (mine is a MS intellipoint optical) it does the volume. usually if the main winamp window is selected the volume goes up and down and selecting the playlist lets you scroll through your songs.. so thats the problem. no scroll buttons that i can see either and if you're like me you have a LARGE list and dragging the bar is not an option as too many files are skipped. please let me know if anyone else is finding this problem and if there is a fix? ? Lee - October 2, 2005 by Lee Cronin

friggin sweet! - dude, this is the shit i mean ......its just...awsome! like read the maual that it comes with and your set i mean cmon how can you go wrong with this skin?...anyone..anyone? - September 14, 2005 by gloria batey

it?s great - I was looking a lot of hours until i?ve found the best skin for me!!! This skin is very great!!! - August 26, 2005 by phil ko

Wo0oSH! - Simply Love It!! - August 16, 2005 by tristan tilly

Wow - I don't do this often. This looks like it took too much work to not get recognized. Great job; compact, stylish, useful, plenty of color themes, and my favorite part, the very smooth 'burst'-style animations that reveal the function of the button you're hovering over. There's a relative learning curve here, but you get used to the logic of it pretty quickly. There seems to also be some kind of conflict with the right-click context menus; they conflict with the theme's tooltips and I end up clicking something I didn't mean to. But that's my only complaint. Excellent work. - July 20, 2005 by Hillel Aftel

weeeee - no words needed - June 30, 2005 by TwoTone Trooper

woOhoo~ - Yeah!! at last..i found my dream skin~ u guys done a great job here.. Congrats! - June 26, 2005 by fikry zenith

Wow - I don't usually rate things or become a member to somthing, but this is an exception. I signed up to winamp.com just so i could say WOW! I love this skin. I have a million of them, and this one makes me forget about them all. Great jorb! Amazing! - June 23, 2005 by Justin Serwylo

Awesome - This skin is fuckin' nice. Hal is looking at me, thinking about how its going end my life... all while playing whatever tune i want! Very easy to learn how to use this, dont be put off by the fact you need a manual..... unless ofcourse you're a blubbering vagina. 5 stars, for excellence, and creativity - June 18, 2005 by Tony Piccoli

Imaginitive but... - Amazingly creative skin. However two major flaws that I have found include the fact you need a manual to understand its basic functions and a scrolling issue. First, the manual should be secondary to the use of the skin...perhaps adding icons to each key around the "eye" would help with that. Second, the playlist doesn't want to use my scroll wheel and it seems that the scroll wheel is locked to the volume control even if I click into the playlist window. Seeing as I scroll up and down my playlists ALOT, this is a big compatibility issue for me...this is the first skin I have ever seen this issue with. However, I'm not going to say this skin isn't good. The idea and creation of a skin like this is incredibly creative and unique. Some minor flaws do hamper the usage of this skin. 4 Stars... - June 18, 2005 by Matt S

What a visual pleasure :) ... - The most esthetical skin i have ever tested :) one of the most practical and so inventive ! A pure concentrate of im&agination :) 'applause ! applause ! applause !' viva -=RoNtZ= - ! 8 stars at least ;-) KeleK - June 13, 2005 by kelek SZASZ

Great simple player - I am a big fan of the compact players, but too many of them try to cram too many buttons and features in. This one is perfect. It has all the buttons you need, and everything else can be accessed by right click. A great tutorial to get you started and customize the exact way you want it right from the beginning, instead of having to figure everything out for the next few days. It uses almost no cpu, unlike other graphic and vizualization heavy skins. Its great, i recomend the orange skin, its my favorite - June 5, 2005 by Daniel Keener

Christopher - Very nice skin, it's got clean lines, very simple, yet highly intuitive. I easily give this 5 stars. - May 30, 2005 by Christopher Greenwood

F'in sweet yet.. - its a sweet skin yet the coolest part is the shade for playlist the auto hide is the coolest and along with the stick mode that i hide on top its the only thing missing from this skin dont get me wrong its one of the best skins yet ill have to go with the modern skin - May 16, 2005 by S M

whee - it's definitely worth the effort of learning how to use it! once you get how it works its great and takes up very little space off your desktop. this skin won't change for a long while for me at least... :) thanks a lot - May 10, 2005 by Janika Hurri

BADASS - this skin may take quite some time to master...however, badass skin none the less. - April 30, 2005 by Justin Shoemaker

equalizer?? - It\\\'s very nice... small and clean but... where is the equalizer? - April 29, 2005 by devil panther

fred strat.... - PLEASE read the manual if you aren'T familiar with the handling of the skin! you don'T have to tell me i should get the old version back, because i didn't change it!!! you just have to switch the vises, right click in the outer region of the vis, choose "Visualisation 3" and there you go!. 'thanks' for bringing my average ratings down just because of forgetting something. hope YOU aren'T disappointed anymore recognizing how many possibilities this skin brings, anyway... I AM! .... please ask first if anything's unclear, in the future, then rate. - April 28, 2005 by i rontz

What did you do? - Where is Hal's eye? This used to be my favorite skin, when it used to look like Hal's eye. Now, it's just flashy lights in a circle. Where is Hal's staring eye that would thump with my music? What a way to ruin a good thing. I guess is was smart of me to save the old file. Hey Rontz, bring back the actual eye in version 1.3 & I'll give you a 5, for now, it's a very disappointing version, that deserves a 1. - April 27, 2005 by Fred Strat

Hals Eye v1_2 -> THE BEST SKIN EVER! - Isn't there any 6 stars?! Very simple to use, beautiful, original, functional, great color system [Red 'n' White is the best], detailed... the best one indeed! I have been using it for months and i look for new skins frequently, just can't find any better than hals eye. And to sum up i just don't get tired of it... -=RoNtZ= - you're da man! :) - April 24, 2005 by Nelson Ferreira

Just what i need! - simple - futuristic - leet colours Good job *Applause* Ini yang gw tunggu2 dari dulu. - April 14, 2005 by Romi Suparman

awesome!!! - i love this skin! it's sleek, clean, neat. it's not hard to use; i only had to read the handy little manual once-it was that easy. it's small and unobtrusive, yet absolutely gorgeous-with almost any color choice you could possibly want! totally cool! - April 11, 2005 by cathy williams

Nice, Simple, Sophisticated - This skin is awsome! simplifies winamp right down, skin doesnt look cluttery and tacky like most of the skins out there. Thanks to the maker, keep up the great work & design. - March 27, 2005 by hallz hallz

azerty - very good! - March 15, 2005 by azerty uiop

wow! - Absolutely awesomeness. - March 9, 2005 by Bridgett B

Most amazing! - My deepest Respect to Rontz for creating this amazing skin. Its the coolest and most sophisticated skin I haver ever seen, and the one I truely prefeer over any! Especially I like the "User Manual" and the general look. This would be the only skin I would give 6 stars, if possible... Looking forward to your next skin... - March 7, 2005 by Jacob Rosenvinge

Hals Eye v1_2 - great skin awsome - March 2, 2005 by NIckolas Woll

Small. Compact. Impressing. - I love this skin. It small compact but still has quick access to everything I need. I'm the kind of person thatdoesn't mind spending a little extra time learning something just for the extra cool effect, and this skin caters to that need. Awesome. - February 11, 2005 by Nick Landau

it looks more like infrared specs. - pros: -it's small. great for use with 800x600 screen resolution. -it's simple to use. just play around with it. the manual isn't even all that necessary. cons: -it's really compact. if you're like me and don't have winamp always on top, nor have it on the system tray and taskbar, it leaves little space to click on it without it doing something. -on some color themes, you can't see some info you might need. -maybe better color themes in future versions?? - February 8, 2005 by derick DAMMIT

Love it, love it, love it! - This is the first skin I've found that's really a different look and feel that works great. Been using it at home for a couple weeks, no bugs, no glitches. Just installed here at work too. Looks great, easy to use, the "User's manual" is six very short pages of quick show me/tell me that gives you all the ins and outs, took me 5 minutes to be able to change and tweak everything and I'll never go back. - January 25, 2005 by addy biru

My Favorite Winamp Skin - Every skin needs getting used to; this one didn't take me very long to figure out everything i could customize. It goes along great with my Red computer case/desktop color design. 5 out a 5! - January 10, 2005 by ohyo wapsoumoutou

Eye dont now - its soo cool its the best skin - January 8, 2005 by Andreas Plzn

Daisy...Daisy... - Jusut amazing...This is the skin I use on my HAL Computer Case MOD I am currently working on. - December 31, 2004 by The Destroyer

nice & compact - this is one of the nicest and cleanest skins I have ever seen. It's small, abstract and quite unique. However it has some bugs that need fixing on the playlist editor. If I change a song the playlist suddently drops or it doesn't load the way it should. - December 29, 2004 by Opium XL

Awesome Skin! - I just started using this skin a couple days ago, and I'm thrilled with it. It's not difficult to use at all..if you forget what a button is (as it's not clearly marked), hovering over it will not only tell you, but give you a very cool little animation (I love the skull for exit). And there are so many color options it's mind-boggling. ;) My only complaint is a very minor one. While it is set in the "blue blue night" (my favorite) color scheme, the tooltips show up in black windows...which is fine, but the text is also black, rendering the tooltips useless. Also, being someone who likes to keep the playlist editor open, it would be nice if the color scheme effected that skin as well. Like I said, no major complaints. This is definitely worth downloading! - December 12, 2004 by ara h

Nice Skin - I LIKE it.. simple, clean and looks futuristic. however, the mouse's scroll button doesn't function when trying to scroll the playlist up or down. hope it's added in the future version. Great skin from -=RoNtZ=- keep it up! - December 5, 2004 by andrew Jokokusumo

Confusing - It's a pity that this skin doesn't come with clear buttons and controls.Although it looks incredible, you need to read an extensive manual to be able to use it.To quote the Staff Review, not the most functional skin. - November 18, 2004 by Rahul K

fantastic design - Einfach Klasse! Mein absoluter Favorit! - November 12, 2004 by Heiner Lauterbach

??? - this skin rocks. i don\'t think i could find a cooler one on this entire site. and i\'m not even going to look cause this one is just so friggen cool! \m/ rock on bros \m/ - November 3, 2004 by tim d

TOP 3 - This is one to keep for sure, where as others have been and gone, hal is still up there on my desktop in my top 3.It would have got a 5 if it had a stick!!!!!!! - October 24, 2004 by masterFwap .UK

Lovely presentation - Nice it goes well on my desktop, very neat and well presented. Prehaps a few buttons to open the playlist in the eye? Not sure if its possible, but it would make this a great skin. FIVE STARS! - October 21, 2004 by David Kenny

Fantastic Skin - Take a minute to read the manual...Dave. This is one of the neatest skins I've seen, and is so easy to use once you see where the buttons are. - October 13, 2004 by Petula Gothmuppet

1 problem.... Update the skin. - The problem is @ the playlist ......when i use once the scroll from the mouse and when i leave the playlist and i return ... the scroll doesn't work .. and when ... i close and open again the playlist it works .... that's the only problem . And when i leave again the playlist again the same thing ..... REPAIR IT !!!!!! COUSE THE SKIN IT'S WONDERFULL - October 9, 2004 by Adrian Boiciu

Great Skin! - Ignore the staff reviewers rating on this one! This is a superb skin. Well done to the creator! - September 25, 2004 by Sam Bowers

Innovative, Sleek, Stylish... Need I say more?! - This is, by far, the sweetest looking skin I've had the privilege of using! On first glance I was both amazed and stumped, but the simple 5-step manual clarified all my questions completely, and within a few minutes I was enjoying my music as well as the many visual FX this skin has to offer. This skin is a prime example of "thinking outside the box." It?s like finding a new gadget to play with and admire! As for the Staff Review, I don't know what they were smoking but it couldn't have been good, lol. It's my belief that the reviewer(s) was just plain lazy; too lazy to give this skin the 13 seconds it requires to figure it out, too lazy to read the manual, and even too lazy to run a spell checker on their pathetic one sentence review. Mostly, I think the reviewer(s) are just upset that they didn't come up with this skin. At any rate, here's my take: Overall: 4 out of 5 stars (There's room for improvement) Originality: 6 out of 5 stars! Completeness: 3.5 out of 5 stars (it is missing some things) Aesthetics: 5 out of 5 stars Most of the skins I've tried have lasted two days at most before I reverted back to the default, this one finally breaks me of that habit. Contrary to the staff review, this skin is not only functional it's down right intuitive! This skin is especially great for my notebook since it doesn't take up much space. I'm certain that the future versions will continue to hold the bar high and exceed everyone's expectations of what a skin can be. Innovative, sleek, stylish... Need I say more?! - September 24, 2004 by Jonathan Morley

Bostin' - This is the best skin & skin concept I have ever seen. Don't delay, download it today!! - September 17, 2004 by Peter Hewitson

Cool - The Best!!! - September 13, 2004 by Val Kot

Holy crap this skin is awesome - The options. I was at first scared of the interface. Now I don't use any other skin. You guys really took it up a notch with this bad boy. Way to go! - September 9, 2004 by Tyler Bird

T.O.P. - One time tested - ever loved. This skin meets the core of the time! Take a little time for this skin and you?ll love it. - September 9, 2004 by karsten busch

Kul skin - This is a very kul skin - September 6, 2004 by stef alex

Revolutionary! - Seriously, though, as if it wasn't enough coming up with a skin that, for the most part, you don't use. . . you watch! Such a simple concept, but so brilliantly executed. After about fifteen minutes I had the controls down to a tee, after that I just loaded, pressed play and sat back to continue working with Hal's ever so faithfully reproduced, ominous eye watching me from the corner of the screen. After a while, it occurred to me to use a black desktop, dim the lights and retreat to a safe distance with the 'Window Scale' upped to 300%. WOW! Downright creepy! RoNtZ, you are the MAN! (Could you now do a super size version that can sit in the centre of my desktop without the zoomed artefacts...? Just a suggestion.) - September 5, 2004 by Simon Manning

Most stylish skin on this site! - This skin was the reason i signed up to write reviews. It's just the most stylish and cool "skinned-device"Ii've ever seen. I would say: There is no descision if you want to get this skin. You HAVE to! ;)) Try out my setup: 1. Use the XP theme "dragonstyle" from dkworx.com 2. Set desktopalpha to on, alpha to 80% and enable "opaque on hover". 3. Use the "Orange" theme 5. put it on the right bottom of your screen (with enough margin) 6. Listen to some chilly/sunny music at night *WOAH* Why isn't this skin in "stylish" too? And: It isn't "not functional"! You just have to enable your brain for the first 30 seconds. ;P If you know how to use once it it's no problem. I would love to see a second version with more functionality, a bit bigger buttons, and better styles on the other windows too. If this second version would be avaliable as a real (small) high-end mp3/ogg-player, I definitely would buy it! - September 5, 2004 by Hurricane Storm

Perfect for minimalists. - This skin caught my eye because it's small, and would fit nicely with the minimalist theme of my computer (LiteStep). I must say that this is absolutely perfect. The three visualizations are just enough motion. Not too much, and the many many color themes will keep me using it whenever I change my computer theme. Learning to use it is as simple as 1 2 3. Don't worry about it having a manual, and the buttons are simple to find and use effectively. Just perfect, thanks for making such a wonderful skin! - July 22, 2004 by mygrane m

My Favorite! - After trying dozens of skins and giving each of them a bit of time in the rotation, I keep coming back to Hal's Eye most often. The design is so simple and yet so much more aesthetically pleasing than all the other simple designs that have no flair. The customizable visualizations rock! The interface is extremely clean, uncluttered, and very well integrated with the overall theme. The button animations alone are genius - especially with configurable lag time before the animation shows! It's way better than a stick mode because it adds something sexy to your screen, but it's small enough to shove into a corner. - July 15, 2004 by Ash Spectre

wow! 2 months!!! - this is so great! today was the last day of this skin being featured, how it seems, but it was featured TWO MONTHS!!!! huge thanks to all of you who downloaded this for your support!! great... wow :) btw: i'm away for one week, after that i'll work on an update... ;) - July 14, 2004 by i rontz

Morten Thomsen.... - Morten Thomsen ... then PLEASE read the manual, that's included exactly because of this and opens on first startup and DO NOT complain before doing that! it teaches everything missunderstandable and after that the skins features are totally clear and simple!!! - July 12, 2004 by i rontz

Good skin - You should definetly get this one. Its not the best, but for now its staying as me default - July 12, 2004 by b silver87

Hey - it is not very very easy 2 find out how 2 use it... - July 11, 2004 by Morten Thomsen

Meh - Its okay, not great, but not awful. It can be really tricky to use, and it is really to small for my liking. 3 stars - July 9, 2004 by Shaun Mac

Tiny is beautiful - My favourite skin, far away from others! Nice, sober, functionnal - whatever the staff says ;). Excellent. Hals Eye skin + Milk Drop visualizer in desktop mode is the ultimate configuration to get hypnotized by your screen ! Just a question : wasn't possible to make the color theme fully editable ? - July 9, 2004 by Jean_Noel Megoz

awesome - once you get used to this thing, it is absolutely awesome. i love the cool look and strangely comfortable functionality. only prob: needs button for shuffle and repeat. - July 7, 2004 by m stegmaier

Artistic more than Useable - I love the way this skin looks. The concept is original and the functions well laid but not easy to get used to. Even though some colour themes make Hals Eye hard to use because of the poor contrast, the vismodes and their simple beauty makes this skin worth 4 stars **** Not 5 because it is a little hard to use. - July 5, 2004 by Rhythm Obsession

New Skin - I think this is a good skin. It's pritty and nice too. I suggest to download it. - July 4, 2004 by Arturas xxx

Great, but needs a tiny bit more - This skin looks great and functions superbly. However I've noticed that the random and shuffle "LED's" are missing from the display. So those should just be added in in an updated version. Other than that, I like it much ^-^ - July 1, 2004 by Steven Marshall

Not ready for prime time - Cool concept. Definately worth following up on. A bit buggy on a W2K SP4 system. Has a tendency to just "disappear". Not quiet ready for prime time but I do hope the author follows up. I like it. - June 25, 2004 by John McWilliams

Greatness - How could you not love this skin? It's clean and very simple...yet powerful. And the manual works as a great quick-start guide. This is definetly my favorite! - June 25, 2004 by Elxx Muuga

Love the skin - I love this skin... but i have one problem with it... when i lay the skin down in the taskbar the scroll stops working in the playlist when i open it again - June 24, 2004 by Thomas Falch

That's A Good Idea Dave - This is one of the first "next-gen" skins I have seen that is not impossible to use and is very stylish. I think this skin is a excellent blend of style and fuctionality. Awsome skin! - June 23, 2004 by Calvin Jarchow

Excellent - This is absolutly the best skin I have ever seen!!! I love to have my tunes on while doing work or play at the computer and this skin is so compact. It is never in the way and provides quick and easy access to most of the functions of the player. It is the best!!! - June 21, 2004 by Xob nis

Tight - I'm loven this skin, it's just tight, the only thing I wish it would do is display the song title in the default mode and fade it out. and maype not have the extra dots in the background. But all in all it's tight, what skin packages should be. - June 17, 2004 by Toby Watkins

Well, I think it`s a great skin ! - At first I think, that here are a lot of mistakes and bugs, because at first look, it`s not easy to use, but when I found "user manual" it looks not so hard to use. So, at last, I want to recommend use this skin to everyone and respect to -=RoNtZ= - ;] Sorry, for mistakes, I`m from Lthuania :))))) - June 15, 2004 by Fripka Omagas

great! - Great skin, would be perfect if the scrolling is fixed and a button for the playlist is added... - June 9, 2004 by MJL vantheman

Slick - Slick design with useful features, kickin' themes - June 7, 2004 by Tad Brodt

Can it get any better - Ok, the GUI might not be the best mankind has seen. But who cares? I just looks so damn good that i got 15 minutes late today just because I couldn't stop looking at this beautiful mix between art and science fiction. Cheers to u Rontz, way to go!!!! - June 6, 2004 by Alexander Engman

Thanks guys, some answers for ya: - g. maisch: it was pulled out of the olympics as i had early betaversions of it up at deviantart and the winamp-forums. :-/ i believe i would have won something *g* :D to the guys who want circular component-shapes: i'm still thinking about that... would take VERY much space...when i've time i will perhaps do it and also let the old version be, so you can choose for every component :) Adrian Boiciu: i don't know anything about that sound... sorry.. but this really should not be the skin... no possibility for this ;) ... and about the new winamp-version: wheew.. hard to tell...unfortunately i'm not one of the developpers ;) ... just keep the news in one eye ;) the pink thing... i have no idea.. something seems to be wrong in here.... will hopefully be fixed about the playlist-scrolling problem, so many people tell me about: since you've told me about it, it's really bugging me, i still have no clue what could be a reason for this, but the next version should have that fixed! :) i'm not ignoring you ;) Nickolas Phillips: you just had to re-read the manual and you would have found the solution for your prob yourself: when a vis is toggled on, just double-click the displays border (NOT THE METAL!) and you'll get a menu where you can choose the rotation direction and speed :) i will also find some place for the random and repeat, i promise! :) Matt R: same for playlist and media-library ;) Rien Post: about the timer-space: yeah... :-/ but i dunno if i'll fix that... let's see Curtis Preizner: a fast way to decrease cpu-usage is to disable desktop-alpha (have a look at the preferences-panel) k, for all: the reason why i wrote that seldom is, that i don't want to be every second rating being 5 stars because it's me :D but finally i thought i had to thank you all again. it's great to see how much you all like my skin! :) please, if you have any questions, don't bother to write me an email to [email protected] if you want a fast answer! :) it'S always nice to recieve "fanmail" :D - June 5, 2004 by i rontz

GREAT!!! - Screw any 3 star or lower ratings. They don't know whats good for them lol. Anyway screw the staff too! This is one of the easyest layouts i have ever seen. just read the manual and youll be fine. Great work. Although I would add a "playlist button" and maybe make all the screens round just to match the style. Once again GREAT WORK! - June 4, 2004 by Ken Minardo

great - looking grat, easy to use, maby complikated on the first look nice pece of desktop - June 1, 2004 by magic magic

Good Skin but It ate up too much of my processing speed - I love the unique interface, but I had major Computer Slowdown running this Skin. Can someone Post the System Requirements? Good job one a fine product otherwise - June 1, 2004 by Curtis Preizner

Never settled for a skin, but this works - Great skin. It's compact, and it works out. To me, it wasn't complicated, but simple, and eyecandy. I've had it more than 5 minutes, so I guess I'll be sticking to this one for a while. Great job, man, and keep up the good work. - May 31, 2004 by Illuminasa D

Nice but a little complicated - This is a cool skin, but I had a little trouble figuring out some of the features. You either need a better instruction manual, or you need to simplify the skin to the point where you don't need a manual for it. Other than that, it is a great skin, a great concept, and a great movie. - May 30, 2004 by Robot Mettelmannn

I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave - It is beautiful, really, but when a song lasts longer than 19 minutes and 59 seconds the duration display gets ugly... The 2 of 20 (and over) doesn't fit in the assigned space and gets an ugly crop. Otherwise, a brilliant piece of work. - May 29, 2004 by Rien Post

Almost Perfect... - The ONLY problem I have with this skin is the fact that you can't use the wheel on a 3-button mouse to peruse your playlist (and if you're like me, your playlist is freakin' HUGE). Otherwise, great skin!! - May 29, 2004 by Mike Hemmerling

my new skin - i've been whoring up the winamp site for years, but i've never registered until now. i just wanted to say that the skin is great. i love how compact it is and i love the animations. there are only two problems i have. first, mouse wheel scrolling doesn't work in playlist (as you have heard from other reviews). another problem i have is that there is no way to get to the media library or playlist without having to right click the skin. i wouldl like to see a button ML and PL on the left of the seekbar and have the suffle and repeat options on the right side in the buttons that seem perfect for these things. - May 27, 2004 by Matt R

Doesn't piss me off. - Hey Rontz, good job on this. All though it's got it's noticable problems, and there are a few things I don't like about it, it's a decently functional skin. I can not figure out how or why you came up with over 70 color themes for this though...haha. - May 27, 2004 by Dan Wenner

WOW! - This is the most excellent skin, I have been looking for something like this for a while. I do have a couple slight problems though. When I first started playing with the skin I found a way to change the rotation direction and speed, and for the life of me, can't find it again! Where is that?! Last and foremost, is it just me or is this skin lacking the random and repeat buttons, screw the repeat button, where is my beloved random button? - May 24, 2004 by Nickolas Phillips

Original - Just loaded it and started playing (with) it. Very original, clean, and functional. Users manual shortened the trial-and-error time. - May 24, 2004 by Mathew Betts

so what....... - Hey -=Rontz=-, i dun have to tell you how good are bad you skin is but i mean i have up to 150000 downloads and only 12 reviews :D and my skin was also never featured. So what, if people like it i give a damn about what they feature are not and since AOL is telling them what to feature and what not i just hate AOL more than befor :D - May 24, 2004 by CarlosP Interactive

Cool - The problem is @ the playlist ...... i use once the scroll from the mouse and when i leave the playlist and i return ... the scroll doesn't work .. and when ... i close and open again the playlist works .... that's the only problem .thats why i gave it 4 stars ... but she is 5 :) ooo forgot ... READ ......... .... i fogot to tell you something .... i installed DFX for win. 2 i have 5.03 but it still works .... and when i uninstalled it ... every time .... @ a video @ the BASS i hear a sound .. that is unpleasent it scratches like a chock on the blackbord :) and if i run my videos with another program it still makes the sound ... ! What could be the problem maybe the CODECS ? .. or WHAT ANYHOW THIS IS THE SKIN !!!!! o BY THE WAY when will be released a new WINAMP ???? :) BYE - May 22, 2004 by Adrian Boiciu

So nice review Twice - Man, this skin has made me happy. Words can not express my gratitude for this skin. Nice job, super effort, awesome creativity. - May 21, 2004 by kendrick boney

Wow! - This skin was a little hard to get at first, but after a few seconds of reading on it i figured it out. Its really nice and looks great! I have no problems and wish it was out earlier. Keep the skins coming man! - May 20, 2004 by Martin Rudolph

Ignore the crap reviews - Hey RoNtZ, Isn't amazing how some people can give a horrible review and not have any of their work on display..... I doubt seriously if some of those constantly negative reviewers can even finger paint much less design a skin v.2 - 5.03v. So, make yourself happy with the skin and then watch the download counts since the majority will provide you with the positive response by downloading it. Near 8,000 in 4 days... that's pretty great to me! About the staff reviews..... I am still at a loss as to their logic. I have read the forum skin FAQ's, sorted through other skin review threads and they seem to have the categories blurred. Completeness should mean ALL features fully skinned and working well, Originality is self explainatory, Aesthetics should mean visual unity of the entire skin that is organized and pleasing to the eye, Overall should mean the wow factor and first impression along with usability and function. I have noticed low review on my skins and everything is fully completed. The lines between Completeness and Aesthetics have been lumped into one score and then if the Overall is like 3 stars for example.... they just go with 3 stars down the board which seems to be their pattern lately. My skins I feel are improving and my staff reviews have went down by 1 star each skin. 4.. 3.. 2 .... My recent one finally broke that pattern ... 3 stars. I hope you can check my skins and I would appreciate your reviews. Classic skins search for James Binegar. - May 20, 2004 by James Binegar

thanks people!!! - with your downloads you tell me that you think NOT like the staff, exactly as i do :D james, you're right.... 9,909 isn't just a funny number, it'S a great amount of downloads for not even five days! :) btw: i'm wondering why it'S not featured... i mean.. REALLY wondering... since troy is featured since a long time, exactly like the submachine gun (what isn'T too creative in my eyes) and it's time for a change in my eyes... at least warp from quadh is featured, but this skin has less than half downloads as hals eye, though it'S almost the same time up. anyway, if the staff doesn't like my skin enoughj to feature it... HE'S WELCOME to continue to show his bad taste ... hahahahahaha :) ah.. when i speak about bad taste, i'm not 100% right... as just mentionned warp is featured. btw: i wish more people would review like james binegar or AE4713 Robinson. not because they gave me nice reviews, but because they tell what they dis-/like!!!! one more "thanks!!!!" flying out to ALL of the people who gave me reviews! :) 9,909 downloads but just 7 reviews... thanks to those 6 reviewers! :) - May 20, 2004 by i rontz

Very nice! - I got this one from the GUIO originally. I really enjoy using it from time to time! Speaking of the GUIO; how come they or you pulled it from the contest? I thought it was going to do a great job competing! Well hope to see more of your work soon! Lata! - May 20, 2004 by G Maisch

Its Damn Good - It follows the great Linux principle. Minimalistic, but very functional and pleasing too. I like it, its so small i can place it any where. And Color Themes are the best ever. - May 19, 2004 by Ravi Sinha

What god thinks - Somebody put this poor puppy to sleep. Want to know how to create an stupid lame ass skin with no functionallity what so ever? Download this mistake and take a look for yourself. - May 19, 2004 by Peter Manning

I wish... - If you are still not comfortable with modern skins this one might not be the best to try.... It is, from a design point of view... a marvel and well crafted puzzle skin. I admire the time and polished look but it would have been great to have added faint text or symbols on the outer curvature for the buttons that lite up as clear text when hovered. This would have really been a kind help for those times you just want to point and click an easily identified function. I know if you hover on an area the tool tip is there but that is the only reason why I only gave 4 stars. It's great overall but it could have been outstanding. Thanks! - May 19, 2004 by James Binegar

oh man.... - peter manning... you seem to be no skinner, otherwise you would have told why you think it'S so "lame".i don't give a sh** on your oppinion as long as you can'T even give a proper reason. what you're saying sounds like you couldn't stand me personally and had nothing to do with the skin, so go ahead and make my day! to the staff: i'd love to know what is NOT skinned, as i have just 3,5 stars in completeness, though i think i have everything skinned plus extra components... and so on... about the originality.. ok.. we could argue a long time with no result, but this skin is definatly something new to the winamp skinning world --> original.. so why not 5 points? - May 19, 2004 by i rontz

Excellent!! - Actually i do not like modern skins, but this one made me to love`em! The idea is great. - May 19, 2004 by Brian Warner

I really dig it. - It's different from anything that's been released in a long while. And while it does seem, on the surface, that it's not particularly user friendly, it only requires one quick read thru the short user guide to break the code. Great job guys. Thanks for something new and download worthy! - May 19, 2004 by AE 4713

Awesome Skin - Love this skin, Way too cool! I dont know why it didn't get a better review. - May 16, 2004 by QuadHeliX Barber
