Windows Media Player Import

Import the Windows Media Player library, including all metadata such as ratings and play counts.

This plug-in allows you to import the Windows Media Player library into Winamp, including all metadata that is only stored in the library, such as ratings and play counts. Winamp already has built-in functionality for importing the iTunes library, but provides nothing similar for WMP. The purpose of this plug-in is to fill that gap. Furthermore, the plug-in offers the following features: Easily choose what files to import: all audio and video files, only audio files, only video files, or only files in a specific playlist. - Can remove files from the Winamp library that are not found in the WMP library. - Importing is pretty fast. - An option to automatically import on every Winamp startup.

Staff review

This worked well on the small test run on a 7000 track database from WMP into Winamp and the details were correct which is a definite bonus. Plus when there were missing files/issues then a relatively easy to read log was generated.The only issue with the plugin is that it requires you to use a modern style skin to access the import menu. A better design would be to have the option on the library button (as the iTunes import does) which makes it accessible at all times no matter the skin being used).
