Text Speech Plugin

Plays text files using Microsoft Text-to-Speech engine. A useful tool for WinAmp-driven radio stations.

The plugin makes it possible for WinAmp to play text and XML files using Microsoft's Text-to-Speech engine. When playing XML files, the plugin uses special language elements to control text synthesis settings. Can be useful for WinAmp-driven automated radio stations. The plugin takes advantage of WinAmp visualization, DSP, and output.

This is a cool plug-in that allows you to play text and xml files in Winamp using Microsoft's Text-to-Speech engine. You must have version 5.0 or later for this to work. -dg

This Actually Works! - I was amazed - a plugin that actually works! Of course, the Microsoft voices have a fuzzy quality to them and they read punctuation literally, which is lame, but to just have a voice read text, it does work. - August 3, 2002 by Richard Hack

*cough* requires a 127MB download - At Microsoft's web site, you can get MS Agent running with just three sub-megabyte downloads, but that's the version 4.0 engine. When I found mention of the Speech SDK 5.0, it's a 240 Megabyte download. Well, it says 240, but there's two files here, so you might require only the 127 megabyte self-extracting zip SpeechSDK5MSM.exe . Speech On The Go! - I use Denis Dubrov's Text Speech Plugin for Winamp in conjunction with an MP3 output plugin to listen to speech on a portabe MP3 player. Ooh , I feel like hearing my book - Good Prog, I use it to listen to my history war stories works all right, that is after I install Microsoft Sdk 5 at www.microsoft/download, note be sure to back up important progs before you install, Sdk might cause your system to crash, I had to restore my computer, thank God I used Windows Me to do a Restore. Great if u want to burn mp3's , wave and windows media files by combining output with other plug ins Oh, and for Christians can burn all sorts of Bible stuff and translations to Cd's and listen later , and share with others, Did I forget to say they're free! - June 5, 2001 by Carlos Lopez
