It's a VIRUS - I don't know why, but before, this plugin was jus a simple file, ready to copy in the winamp plugin folder, but now it's an EXE file, and my antivirus detected it as a virus (Backdoor/IRC.Cloner.ae). I'm concerned about it because at least all the messenger plugins are now executable files (.EXE) and before were simple files, and probably viruses. Be careful. Buggy - As this plugin has a quite straightforward functionality I would rate it FIVE if it worked and ZERO if it had some problem. Awesome idea - I really needed this plug in because I have gotten to use to this feature on WMP and Windows Live. It's an awesome idea, however it doesn't not work as perfectly as it should. Sometimes it refuses to show the name of the song on the messenger no matter what I do. I have to restart WinAmp to get it to work. And when I am streaming music, all it shows is the IP and web address I am streaming from, not the song and titles as they change like it will do with WMP. Immitation - pretty much a copy of Toaster's which released way before this. The plugin only displays the artist and song, the same as windows media player plugin. Basically a rip-off of that as well. It comes with winamp, for people who don't really want to waste time looking for an advanced plugin. It's basic, no configuration, no hassle. Not working without WMP Installed - It's a shame - I tried it out in a computer with Windows media player installed and worked perfectly, easy install... everything allright. Not so good... - Good things are: 1.- Fast name replacement between songs. Bad things are: 1.- It doesn't make any change when playing a song by double clicking on an mp3 file. 2.- It doesn't restore my MSN's personal message when stop playing or when Winamp is not running... Patch that fixes Song - Artist to Artist - Song +++ - Hey, downloaded this patch and tried to install it. I did but once i wanted to turn on the "turn on "what in listening to"" Msn messenger started bugging me about installing Windows Media Player 9 or later. So ok, I installed wmp10 and i got it working. (i also installed the latest Msn messenger version 7.0 (build 7.0.0816) I also got winamp v5.094 installed. Well it seemed to work fine but the Song - Artist order was all wrong. Then I looked around and a friend gave me this link : http://downloads.mess.be/downloads/messpatch/messpatch0816(www.mess.be).zip The Patch does not only got its own "now playing" patch but it fixes alot of other issued (not bugs) well you can call them bugs if you like :D. it has a total of 30-40 changes with irritating banners, ads, annoying buttons, stuff that are hand to disable in msn messenger. and it also fixes the order of Song - Artist. After installing this patch i still had my gen_msn7.dll file in my winamp\plugin folder so i deleted that one and restarted my msn and winamp and after a few seconds it changed the order of Song - Artist! horray. Good, minor issue - A good plugin. However, it seems to base the current playing song thingy off the title in the playlist, parsing it around \" - \" for the artist and track title. This causes a problem if you don\'t use that playlist setup in winamp. For example, \"Artist- Title\" breaks the plugin slightly. It should be based off the actual artist and title, even if it is slightly more difficult to implement. - June 7, 2005 by Davi Medrade

Great Plugin :) - I've tried other Msn plugins but this is the only one that seems to work on my PC and it does a good job too however all my arist / titles are swapped. Revisions - Its a good plugin (requires a restart of winamp) and works well. I would like to see another releace which allows the user to order the information shown in MSN though, so the user can list it by artist - title rather than the other way around (possibly just reversing the order the plugin gives the information from the ID tag to MSN?). all in all it is a good plugin that does what it promices :) - May 19, 2005 by r webster
