iZotope Ozone

DSP for enhancing audio. Analog modeled EQ, tube compressors and amplifiers, room simulators and more. A lot more.

DSP for enhancing audio. Analog modeled EQ, tube compressors and amplifiers, room simulators and more. A lot more.

Put simply, Ozone makes music sound better. Ozone adds warmth, bass, sparkle and an overall desirable sound to your MP3s. Unlike other "enhancers", it improves your music by modeling the analog characteristics of vintage audio equipment such as tube amplifiers and valve equalizers. So instead of sounding harsh and hollow, your music sounds deep and full. The free version allows you to select from presets that simply make music sound better. The full version gives you control over a EQ, bass compressor, tube amplifier, and room simulator settings as well as a preset system that's simply unmatched.

Staff review

Great tool for ehancing audio

This is a very slick plug-in that allows you to add that extra flavor to your audio files. The interface is top notch and engaging...complete with some very handy configuration settings, this is sure to help you get the most out of your song files. The free version has a great many options disabled tho, so you'll probably want the full version to get the good stuff.

This brings out the best in my Logitech zz-5500 surround system. You just melt and disappear into that warm tube amp bass. This is worth every cent. - May 7, 2010 by [email protected]

just Great - This plugin is one of the best plugins for dsp ever!It has everything everybody needs just in one click. It's pretty fast and fully compatible with the most 16bit formats. I've been using it for years and it has never crashed or stopped working (even 1 time!). It's great for mastering too.All products of "Izotope" are great for susre!I recommend also trying the Izotope Ozone 4 (the VST version from Izotope's site wich also works great with "Vst bridge" plugin) - August 22, 2009 by manev.mitko

Serves the Purpose pretty good. - AwesomeMay. 7th, 2006I wanted to get REALLY into Quentin Tanrantino's Movies. So bought a decent HeadSet. And jacked up Winamp's Amplifier. I still could not get THE details.Downloaded this thingy and VOILA!!!I need not write any more...Thanks.Ra.- Rahul Sharma - July 21, 2009 by Rahul Sharma

Absolutely spot on - A brill DSP plugin, worth the money. You will need to play around with the settings, to get it to your personal level, but just go for it. - May 16, 2008 by Andrew Noble

Best of its type - I have used this program for several years, and love it. It is the best DSP I have tried with Winamp, or any other music player for that matter. It really works. It enhances the sound quality in many different, programmable ways. You just have to try it. - April 25, 2008 by Fred Glavin

Love it - Izotope make some of the best professional products out there, and this is also great. Very nice! - April 1, 2008 by Todd Larsen

Nice preset - My second choice DSP plugins after STEREO TOOL plugin by Hans van Zutphen (5 star). Too bad artist preset cannot be updating. Except you add your own some trial and error. - January 24, 2008 by Dark Sidious

Not free - I really wish Winamp changed their site so we would know when something is free or not free. Because this isn't free! It got 5 stars so it has to be great. - October 28, 2007 by Andrew NA

Wonderfull - Ok, let's face it - I'm not an audiophile. I'm not an audio pro. I don't even hear subtle nuances in music. I don't know the terms used. I just care about the feeling. Hence: lot's of crap will follow...Listening to FLACs on a pair of really good professional audio monitors (with reasonably flat freq.response 85Hz-20kHz and very good sounding lows) is much more _enjoyable_ when this plugin is enabled. The room simulation really adds some life to the sound even at low SPL. Reverb or what ever you audiophiles call it. If I turn off the room simulation, the sound becomes boringly flat. I'll still have a wonderfull sound stage thanks to these two gems, but it's so... static and boring. More exact and defined maybe, but in my opinion it really looses some "life".The tube amplifier bass compression also enhances my listening experience. It makes the bass sound much more like my grand grand mothers valve radio - and that's not a bad thing! Progressive trance, for example, just sounds SO MUCH better! I like that wonderfull bass! Without Ozone the sound becomes very dry and analytical.I don't have clue about how this Ozone sounds with the usual "multimedia speakers", and frankly I don't want to know :)This plugin is worth a try. - July 4, 2007 by anonymous anonymous

You just can't beat the classics! - I've tried every DSP out there, or so it seems sometimes....but I always come back to Ozone, my first love! :) Ultimate configurability and oh-so-many options for fine-tuning the details -- perfect for those with high-end soundcards and speakers who use Winamp as their primary entertainment hub. No other DSP handles your output with such power yet gently enough to preserve the original integrity of the input.Couple it with AudioBurstFX and turn your PC into a massive audiophile's dreamsystem! =) - July 3, 2007 by Chris Grose

ok - good - June 8, 2007 by vladimir ortiz

Ozone - I've tried many Winamp DSP plug-ins over the years. This is by far the best overall sound/ambience adjusting tool that I have found. If you like to tinker with controls this is for you. If you don't like to mess around with adjustments just use one of the many presets available. If you're not listening on hifi equipment this will make your computer speakers sound much better. Used to be free (crippled version no longer available) but I bought the full version anyway. Very professional. - January 8, 2007 by David Duani

Ozone THE BEST - The best by far. If you know music and have hearing ability, then this is simply the best there is.. - October 23, 2006 by Peter Plarre

Best kid on the block. - I really wish some people would stop complaining. Even on a 1Ghz PC, Ozone works just fine. It offers a hell of a lot more control than any other DSP, the free version is NOT a TRIAL and it sounds great, especially with audiophile-quality speakers (5.1 systems recommended). *VERDICT:Beats other DSP plug-ins HANDS-DOWN. **RATING: 10 out of 10. - August 21, 2006 by Stefan Rosic

useless - only gives you a few presets. Very anoying messages regarding full version. - August 8, 2006 by exploding blister

Discount still available - FYI, the "OZMP-DF45" discount is still valid as of August '06. I just bought the OzoneMP plug-in the other day for $19. - August 5, 2006 by Major Imapct

my opinion - it sound good but i wish that there was a plugin like this that didn't make you pay to get the full effect - July 14, 2006 by clint simcoe

Awesome - I wanted to get REALLY into Quentin Tanrantino's Movies. So bougt a decent HeadSet. And jacked up Winamp's Amplifier. I still could not get THE details. Downloaded this thingy and VOILA!!! I need not write any more... Thanks. Ra. - May 7, 2006 by Rahul Sharma

Very authentic sound - Last year I hopped on the wagon and digitized my entire collection. While this is beyond convenient in terms of having all of my media a click, instead of a load-and-wait, away, it also provided pretty stark, cold sound, even at the alleged 'CD quality' bitrate of 320. So I searched and searched the plug-ins here. I ran Enhancer for some time, and was pretty satisfied. But I could still hear 'breathing' and 'pumping' in the cymbals, and the sound overall was short of my traditional stereo experience. But OZONE ROCKS! This thing reminds me of listening to that brushed aluminum monster of a stereo my dad ran when I grew up in the 70's and 80's. I mean, DAMN! It truly 'warms' the sound. There's a reason that old analog receivers, amps, synthesizers - you name it - often sell for much higher rates than their highly capable digital counterparts. There really is a 'warmth' that can't be described until you really listen. There's no 'fatigue' in the sound, and the bass gets compressed for a tighter bunch instead of the boomy crap we all get from our computers, even when streaming to a high-end stereo. Ozone compresses the bass, warms the mids, and cuts the harshness from digitized, compressed highs. Sh*t, that ALONE is worth the price. But you get a ton of stuff to play with. My FAVORITE without doubt is being able to assign values to each song or string of similarly produced tracks. This ENDS that SEVERE irritation of reaching for the bass knob to handle different production values of different songs. For instance, Crystal Method is gonna blow my woofers, but the Pretenders won't. You just listen to your tracks, EQ it to optimum settings, and assign it. All your music will sparkle, and you won't boom yerself out of the room when you skip from, say, The Rolling Stones to Prodigy. It also has kicka*s stereo widening, giving the vocals a truly 'live' feel. You can adjust the values of your room's acoustics, and whole hell of a lot more. If you look, there are promotion codes available online. I had the free version set to 'warm and airy' but got pissed because that damned red window kept popping up! Dude, it's $19, or $29 if you're not resourceful. This is a serious audio company specializing in pro recording software. All of those people who b*tch about having to pay for a plug-in - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. And for all of the research that went into this one, free ain't gonna cut it. So if you're serious about music, quit complaining an buy this! - April 5, 2006 by Brian Brunson

I cant get it to work on SHOUTcast - Really good When I Use the MAD decoder but you probably know that MAD doesn't work well on stream music so I disable MAD and use the Nullsoft decoder but I wont get any sound unless I disable OZONE Get The Picture :( OTHERWISE A REALLY GOOD PLUGIN - January 29, 2006 by m h

Simply the BEST Winamp plugin!!! - After trying dozens of DSP plugins - and being disapointed with most of them - at last I found one that REALLY enhances your mp3 listening experience. Ozone emulates the good aspects of analog audio on your compressed music, making it sound full, deep, warm, airy and punchy in place of that thin and shallow digital sound. The difference is enormous and still you feel that's how it's supposed to sound, unlike many plugins that makes it all feel very artificial. The free version alone can greatly improve the sound of your pc speakers, earphones, etc, but the full software is so vastly configurable that besides allowing the user to tweak it perfectly to his needs, it is extremely addicting to mess around with as well! For those who prefer to just push play and enjoy, there are TONS of presets, for various music styles and - yes - lots of specific artists. Amazing, huh? In addition, you can assign presets to each of your songs. The guys at iZotope really thought of everything... My suggestion to everyone that demands the best is: BUY THE FULL VERSION NOW! Your ears will be eternally thankful and you'll wonder how in the world you could listen to music without this. - January 27, 2006 by Lucas Buss

Worth every cent - This GREAT plug-in does what the ultimate goal of every music fan is - it makes WINAMP sound close to a real analog source. It relieves us from listening fatigue and makes us forget we are using a computer instead of a real Hi-Fi audio source. Everything we could ever wish for! - January 24, 2006 by Dragan Milunovic

Freekin' Awesome - After playing with the free version for only about half an hour I ordered the full version. This is production quality stuff, and at $19 (promo till 12/31/05) it can't be beat. I was absolutely amazed at what it did for the sound of the songs I tried it on, just using the default preset. And for those who are morally opposed to paying for winamp plugins, this is production quality stuff from a real company that has other signal processing products. It is great that there are many free plugins, but ya gets what ya pays for. This is the first plugin I've spent money for. Try the free version. The free presets alone may meet your needs, but this is one that I just couldn't pass up. When you pay, you get a package that supports winamp, windows media player and the qcd player, all for $19. - December 24, 2005 by Steven Quinlan

Amazing!!! - If you love music and actually know what you are doing, this is the plugin for you. Even though it uses quite a bit of system resouces, I bought the full version and it's one of the best computer related purchases I've ever made. The sound is so perfect when you can adjust the EQ, the room simulator, the lowest lows and where they cutoff and the entire mid section to add/decrease warmth and the final touch with a little bit of sparkle to add to the highs. If you don't have this plugin, you don't know what you are missing and if you do have it and don't love it, maybe you just need to buy it so you can actually see what it's capable of. Besides, for 29 dollars it's TOTALLY worth it! - September 20, 2005 by Xero Tech

oh my god - This Plug-In really rocks. And it keeps the things it promises. The Sound is not 100% like the sound of "real" valve equipment (I already built a hi-fi tube amp, but I don't use it because it has no protection fuses), but still it is the best Plug-In I ever tried. Shure E2c In-Ears Monitors: Superior Sound. Old Techinics Receiver (2x 8Ohm on one channel): Still superior sound. The distortions it creates are of a very low grade and not to strong/loud. Just lying in bed and listening to Nightwish and other interprets of the Metal/Gothic Metal Genre is very nice. I recommend good headphones, as the sound of headphones is usually clearer than the sound of stereos (my headphones are priced at 90?, but they are the "cheapest" versions of a series of musicians headphones. There are better headphones out there for less money but without the sound isolation I need). And finally: This Plug-In consumes quite much CPU Power, but its worth playing with worther graphics (a pun ^^) Sebastian - September 7, 2005 by Sebastian Meyer

Finally! - A DSP plug-in that works!! I usually use the eq. and something like DFX or WOW Thing. I've never been able to get a good sound without at least the eq. and one of the others. Well! No more. This sounds GREAT! I turned everything off but this one and it sounds SO SWEET! I'll never need anything else!! Thank you for a free, GREAT, plug-in. Can't wait to upgrade to get all the adjustments available. But for everyone else, that's not even necessary!!! HIGHLY recommended! I registerd just to rate this! I've never rated any other, but I felt this definitely deserved it! GET IT! You won't be sorry. I'm using it on a P4 with 512MB Rambus RAM - no problems at all. - August 8, 2005 by Mike Smith

izotope Ozone - The freebie settings, I wish were more of. I use the extra wide sound along with winamp eq set on rock and get a good sound at only 48kbs. Worth checking out. Worth buying? Why shell out the bucks for something that works for free. Just my opinon. Regards, Jim - July 18, 2005 by Jim Stampley

Really, really good sound, just... - ...not exactly realistic. It adds 'vintage' compression and saturation as well as a phase-accurate EQ and spacial enhancements, so if you're too fidelity-conscious you won't want it (if that's the case, why are you bothering with mp3s at all?). However, it will definitely make your audio files sound much better, especially if you're like me and your speaker setup isn't anywhere near audiophile quality. The quality of this plug-in rivals (or exceeds) that of high-quality commercial audio mastering plug-ins, and the free version is still extremely desirable. I'm still trying to decide if I want to pay for tweakability, because the free version adds a little too much reverb for my tastes, but the upgrade is so inexpensive that I'm sure I'll go for it sooner or later. - July 8, 2005 by Jam Lee

Wow - What a difference!! - I have been using Winamp for over a year now, but never had heard about this plugin. Being a sound fanatic, I was shocked that I hadn't. Anyway, I am using the free version right now, and they give you several presets to choose from. But, you are unable to modify any of the settings. But I can't believe the change in sound quality - all I can say is WOW!! As the previous reviewer says - it is worth paying for the full version. It makes that much of a difference. Now, if I could find that promotion code you mentioned, I would upgrade in a heart beat. Either way, $30 is a fair price for what this plugin does, but $20 makes it an even sweeter deal. If anyone knows what the promo code is, I would appreciate knowing as I haven't come across it yet. - May 5, 2005 by Jeff Lee

It's the Real Deal! - Don't be stupid, pay the man, don't even mess with the free version. You can find a promo code for $19.95 USD if you look. This is a studio quality peice of work made available to YOU! Many an Engineer has used this software to master tunes you listen to every day. To get the full version that will plug into digital recording software costs about $250.00. Why does iZotope let us use it for 20 bucks? Because they love us and they want us to be happy! Be happy! - May 2, 2005 by dana humfleet

There are plug-ins... and IZOTOPE - yes guys, this is not a plugin, this is the G.O.D. of the plugin universe. The other plugins do a job, but this one does THE JOB. When connected to shitty speakers it makes music sound as if you were using a million quid equipment. I really feel sorry for those who rate it under 5 stars. Those poor devils don't even know what they are talking about. - March 16, 2005 by David Abenza

CLASS ACT!! - This is pro audio stuff folks.. for all you 0 star morons out there, go back to kindergarten and look for that p.o.s. plugin that has the ABC blocks in pretty primary colors on it. Simple plugins for simple minds. Maybe you should take the time to learn how to use a real plugin. So what if the window opens with WinAmp and it use alot of system resources? For the processing power you're getting I wouldn't expect anything less. And for those whining about having to pay for it.... nuff said. I've been using the Ozone 3 DX plugin on Sonar PE for music production and mastering for sometime now and it flat out rocks. Although the WinAmp version is a scaled down version, it still kicks ass and is worth every red cent. - November 17, 2004 by Maynard Krebs

This has to be the best! - Without a doubt, the best DSP plug in there is for Winamp. I've tried a whole bunch of plug ins, both freebies and paid for and most of the time I end up disappointed. Not with this excellent example from Izotope though, it does a great job of enhancing your music and so much more. It looks cool too! On top of that the customer support at Izotope is top notch! Well worth the small amount of $$$ you'll have to part with to own it in full! Download other DSP material instead of this at your own risk! - October 8, 2004 by Martyn M

What are you talking about? - What do you mean that this always wants to load when you turn on Winamp? It's a great plug-in, turned my MP3's into Magic music, and you simply select "none" on the preferences if you don't wnat it to be on. - September 15, 2004 by the bonehead

I WANT A CRACK .... I WANT IT FULL ! WANTED: FULL - NO REWARD - I WANT IT FULL ! hehehe this is the best plug in ... i ever seen - May 22, 2004 by Adrian Boiciu

HHHoo Yeaaa!!!!! THIS REALY WORKS!!! - THERE ARE VERY FEW TIME THAT I TAKE THE TIME TO PRICE SOME PRODUCT. but by far this product dose what it say it sopuse to do even with the free version this product delyver's, graet sound even on head set. I thoaght that enhacer was great but the crisp and high defenicion of real acust sound is now at reach of any one, presets are clear and on the money, no if & or but's this realy work's. I conpaired it with tract's that I redited though sound forge and there's no need to that any more, just play and just change preset's to get great acustic sound out of cd,mp3,ezt,ezt,,, I AM INPRESED sound's better then my old graundiiiiiiiiiig I finaly got the most out my speaks 2 set of altec's, it is worth the time download it. - May 17, 2004 by luis olarte

Love It - I Love this thing more than I love myself on a lonely Friday night (and that's saying a LOT)! Anyone who says it sucks MUST be tone-deaf. Does anyone out there have the patch for this mutha? If so drop one on me at [email protected] - April 19, 2004 by Collin Lucke

Best of the best - I have been using winamp for a very very long time, and been using izotope OZONE for over 2 yrs now. Why? because it is the best. i have tried so many DSP plugins, there are some good quality ones, but Ozone is still by far the best. it has tons of presets. and you can munipulate it anyway you want. Room simulator allows you change your setting according to your room, Valve EQ allows you to do anything and everything you possible want. and of course, very cool GUI. The FREE DEMO version is the tip of the ice burg of what you can experience, you should really get a hold of a copy of full version so you can take your music experience to the next level - April 14, 2004 by David Lee

WoW ? - I only have to say wonderful only that - March 28, 2004 by Nestor Murillo

SWEET - IF i had the money to get this I SO WOULD it sounds awesome. I mean I good not bad speakers but makes them sound like millon bucks speakers. But 1 down side is that u cant close and it uses alot of CPU and memory. If u r a cs gamer do dont get this. :D - February 2, 2004 by loudon ed

come on - first, complaining about the features is ridiculous. this is a pro-level music engineering software that normally costs 200 bucks. second, take the pepsi challenge with this, play a song with this on, in the middle of the song turn izotope off and see how the music normally sounds in winamp. Yeah, a world of difference i know. this plug-in has helped me enjoy music i already love even more. i cannot even begin to describe how awesome it is. if this doesnt work on your comp, maybe its time to ditch the 25mhz packard bell, or be quiet and dont download such advanced applications. honestly, how can anyone say this program doesnt rock? - January 21, 2004 by rad wol

I gave it 10 Stars - I am using it about 1,5 year and I have never had better plugin. The maximum of BASS of any plugin on Winamp.com page. Maximum quality and reverb that I dont need any Audigy sound card. You must buy it or not :-) - October 20, 2003 by Raider1 Raider2

This is the best, but... - I have many old MP3 files with bad sound and i have tested all DSP plugins. Ozone is the best!!!. But the open Ozone window is not god for my old MP3-PC. The CPU -Usage go to 95% (with a Pentium II/400Mhz). Now i have written a small programm that starts in the tray and check the system for a open Ozone windows and minimize it automatically. CPU-Usage go to 35%. Show an intereest an this programm? Please mail to: [email protected] subject: OzoneMinimizer - August 12, 2003 by Udo Leistner

Great Sound, Bad Program - The output sound and features usability is near perfect, but the program uses up too much resources. The window is undockable. The graphic labels will occasionally not appear, and its too much of a burden. Would you really want to run a program 1MB big in memory while you are already processing tons of additional MB's through the memory by the music effects. The program doesnt sound so rolls royce now does it? The best DSP effects are those that are: 1. Fully accessible through one simple easy to use interface, 2. Very small in size with nearly no decoration (extra eye candy=more cycles tied up,) 3. Free to the public with the source code available, and 4. Perform very well under harsh conditions. This enhancer does not do the job well. An Alternative that I have found through testing is a DSP/Effect called 'Enhancer.' Very well built. Try comparing load times between these DSP's and see if your iZotope is still prime. Although the interface is lovely, it isnt flexible and demands a lot from a system (note the recommended system settings.) You people that say that this program rules, stop with the eye candy and wake up to reality. Those that wish to crack this program, be my guest, but there are better things in the world to do. My Overall suggestion: Find another fish in the sea, this one's not ready for the serious user yet. - July 31, 2003 by Digital Ice

Earotic... - I just can't tell you how pleased I am that a company in it for the money would give such a great no stings demo. (although they say they just want payment to help pay for the tools they had to purchase to create this great plugin (I can understand that))It works better than all of the other audio manipulating devices I have downloaded for free. A special note to all who read this. I use Winamp 2.91 and Windows ME along with my Athlon 1.2 MZ computer and it works flawlessly. The added feature appears when I use the DirectX plugin adapter module and checked off Ozone. Viola! I was able to access all of the special add ons you're only supposed to get with the paid version. Opps! Pass the word. Hey try it. It's free and you won't regret it. I am a professional musician and composer and can honestly say the Ozone plugin is AWESOME! - July 13, 2003 by Jesse Mendez

Not Worth It - There are free plug-ins that sound as good or better. Plus, when you have this one enabled, and start Winamp, the huge iZotope screen pops up. They only give you a few presets to try in the free mode, and I wasn't impressed. They could at least let you try ALL the presets, for 30 days or so, to see if you like them. Not worth the download. - July 3, 2003 by Woody Goodpecker

People who use 0 stars are idiots. - You should not review this unless you try the full version and spend time getting to know it. CRACK! Read the 'reviews' from the people who dislike this product. They are a joke. Of course their reviews are not reviews, because they are IDIOTS. Saying something 'sucks' is not a review people. If you dont like this product,at least explain why in coherent language or SHUT-UP! This is the by far,the best plugin for WinAmp. Nothing is even close technically to this. You need to get the full version of this to really understand its full potential. I think alot of people are either too lazy or too ignorant to understand and learn what this plugin does. If you want some dumbed down little plug-in with a few sliders that are shallow..dont use this. Let me tell you what i like about this plugin. 1. Parametric EQ. - You can really shape your sound to the finest detail. You can focus in on the frequencies that makes your MP3's sound 'cardboard' like. In my opinion, you should mainly cut frequencies rather than boost. The main one for MP3's is around 400 HZ - 500 HZ that should be slightly cut with a Q around 1.0 - 1.5. 2. Bass Compression - The greatest thing I have ever seen on a WinAmp plugin. It gives you total control of the overall bass sound that a EQ can not. 3.Tube Saturation - This is a MUST! a MUST! if you want your digital files to sound natural. It really adds a sparkle to the high frequencies and works real well in conjuction with the bass Compression. On files like Beatles and older files,it brings out the Hi-Hats and cymbals without making it sound tin like, the way an EQ does when you boost the high frequencies to get the proper high end. This does it in a more natural way than an EQ. 4. Tube Limiter - Another great part of the chain. Once you learn how to use it,you will get great results. 5. Room Simulator. - You should be carefull with this. If used too much,it will make your files sound like they are in a tunnel. most of the presets use way too much in my opinion. If you use it slightly, you will get a good room and speaker expansion. You can even bypass this. But if you use it,you should keep wet/dry level below 3.0. On sparse and acoustic music like early Bob Dylan,it works great. 6. This is the BEST one...the presets and assigned songs to them. You can assign your songs one by one,or by directory to individual presets. With MP3's at different volume levels that need different needs, this is a gift from the MP3 god. Once the song is assigned,Ozone will play it in the preset you assigned it to when ever you play it. You should all know what I am talking about when i say that different MP3's need different things. And finally, erase all the presets and create all your own from scratch. Everyones soundcard and sound system will be different,so the presets may not be good for what you have..just use them as a starting point. AND READ THE INSTRUCTION manual. It goes through each part of the plug-in step by step. GET THE FULL VERSION now. Brian from Florida. - July 2, 2003 by Brian Mozingo

Not worth the cash - It's not very user friendly. Some of the presets produce nice sound but creating your own sound simply takes too much time. And yes it asks for superior hardware, and since my computer isn't the fastest around, gaming and listening with winamp doesn't mix very well. But if you have a good computer, nice speakers and aren't so much into gaming. It's worth the download and maybe even buying it. - April 16, 2003 by Ruben Stolp

Overrated - It looks great but sounds worse... - February 20, 2003 by Slawek B

Just the best ! - COOL. It's the best DSP Plug-in I ever used. There is a lots of music style presets and it's nice that you can listen to music not in traditional mode. - February 19, 2003 by John Coper

Nice, to Bad the Full Version Costs so Much. - Nice plug-in, it does a great job of simply enhancing the Mp3 file. Only a few preset choices but, a very good plug-in which is worth the price of its full version. -Steve Wright A Assistant System Administrator - December 21, 2002 by Steve Wright

By far, the best! - I've been using this plug-in for about two years, and thought it was about time I wrote a review. There's simply nothing that enhances the sound of WinAmp as well as this does, but . . . , there are a few caveats. 1. You MUST have a reasonably fast computer. I first tried Ozone on a Pentium 233 MMX, and it could barely handle it. A Pentium III 500 Mhz Celeron seems to work good, and my latest P4 2 Ghz ROCKS! 2. If you have those cheap little plastic computer speakers, there isn't much point in getting this. If, on the other hand, you route your soundcard through a decent sound system, this plug-in really enhances your sound. It doesn't take a lot of system to appreciate Ozone, My "family" computer plays through an old Pioneer SX-434 receiver, bought on Ebay for $20, and through some small Yamaha speakers, purchased at a pawn shop for around $60. Of course, the better the system, the better Ozone sounds. 3. There are a lot of settings you can tweak, but you don't have to, if you don't want to. Simply scroll down the presets to "warm sounding equipment", and let Ozone do its stuff. I rarely change from that setting. And to Carlos, why yes Baboo, if you go to Preferences, and select Ozone, it will in fact try to load up every time you start WinAmp. I believe thats the point! The only other plug-in thats this much fun is iZotopes Vinyl. But thats a WHOLE 'nother story! Enjoy. - October 29, 2002 by Art Hall

Cool, is a good idea. - Sound is very cool, like FM radio stations. Is a good idea, but the perfect idea is to create a DSP with Orban Optimod digital audio processor engine or seemed.Orban Optimod has a lot of important features, one of them is the "Punch" effect that gives a strong and clean bass.I say to iZotope Inc team to think about this post. Can create a virtual digital audio processor to broadcasting or FM and then, can be sure that many stations will purchase it. - September 29, 2002 by Panillo Panete Sandezes

Duh - You want to lose time go ahead. this sucks. it only looks good that is all. + the crap wants to load everytime you start winamp. - September 29, 2002 by Carlos Rodriguez

Just decent! - I can say it's good enough cos it's really very professional. The interface is cool and DSP is very well done( but a little worse enhancer).but what it brings to u also include troubles: sometimes u will never know what u r doing as it's a bit complicated, and seems some options don't obviously affect. The "artists" presents r very useful, but u must assign them to the files manually, and can't hide the control panel and it will occupy quite a large space. no use to WMA files. - August 12, 2002 by Brad Cain

Pagar??

Nice Thing..:-) - I cannot Buy the Full Version, the Online Store seems to be Closed, but: Its a very good PlugIn, if WinAmp 2.78 is Used, becos the 2.80 doesnt let Users Configure the Direct Sound Output, which is also "fetaured" with a ugly Fade in/out/over :-(( Good Work , iZoTope !!! - June 18, 2002 by Radio Gizzmo

It's UNREAL!!!! - i just can't say how i love this plugin, i've bought a full version of it and now my computer can't live without it, thank's for programers, keep it on, RESPECT - June 16, 2002 by Richkiz Narkashiuz

Are You Deaf? - Some of you guys that put down the analog sound have had your head stuck in your tweets too long. This is a quality piece of work. The displays are top-notch the effects are perfect. I just have the freeware and it's great. I use it for playback and for recording my jam sessions. Try it. Buy it. - May 17, 2002 by Henry Mason

eh? - No, I'm not canadian, I just like saying "eh?"...Who wants to PAY for a plugin for some FREE software...I will never pay for any plugins, and there are many more like me.btw, the "free" version of this sux. - May 12, 2002 by Christopher Richardson

Bit Dodgy - Im still searching for the perfect DSP?Effects plug-in, and im sorry to say that this isnt it, for the sole reason you have to pay to get anything decent, otherwise the download is just to put something fancy on your screen when your mates cum round. SORT IT OUT!!! - May 9, 2002 by Alex Kyriakides

Could Be better - I have tried them all. The fact that this is a trial instead of for free knocks it down a few notches. Worth a try though. If you have low system resources skip it and try sumthin else. There are a few hacks for this to open up all the options.... - May 4, 2002 by steven smith

That's the Sound! - Forget all the others. If you really want to have a top sound in your computer, dl iZotope Ozone right now! - April 18, 2002 by tais jardim

arrgh - man this is what im talking about.these companys make these entirely bell and whistle programs that look so "beautiful"you download them immediatly and then.......?what ..oh you want 200 dollars oh ok..........what its not even digital awwww sh*t you f*&%ing buttheads man arg - April 17, 2002 by nick gilmore

CPU Utilization - I just posted my positive review of this plugin but I wanted to hit on my CPU utilization experiences with it across a few CPUs. Duron 1000: ~15% AthlonXP 2000: ~2% Pentium 133MMX: Too slow Pentium 233MMX: Barely gets by, probably 95% or so. - April 7, 2002 by dustin neal

eh, could be more useful - ozone sure looked nice when it first opened until i realized i couldn't tweak anything, that was the first strike against it. the next one was when i palyed my regular mp3s, the treble was adjusted too high and produced a hissing sound (thanks to the incredibly limited use of the free version, i couldn't fix that). it even made high rate shoutcast streams sound worse (if you thought 24 was bad already, use Ozone with it). the last one was that i don't have multimedia, $40 speakers like most people. i'm an audiophile so i have giant floor speakers. ozone pumped up the bass but dumbed down the high frequency treble that's audible in most of my mp3s. it was nice to hear a deep rumble from my 15" subs but not to hear (or not hear in this case) the crisp cymbals and loops in my trance collection. this is only good if you have useless speakers with your computer. - March 17, 2002 by Richard Foshee

Ozone - of all the output plugins, this one is essential. It makes multimedia speakers sound good, and hifi speakers sound extraordinary! Well done! - February 25, 2002 by Carl Stephenson

Crack Available!!!! - Who wants a crack can email me at [email protected] and then you will be blown away. - February 23, 2002 by stephan Z

THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE - This is the coolest stuff you can get off winamp. This is so cool. Too bad its only a trial (not really but something like it), you cant get the full version without having to pay. But it is basically worth the money. That bugs2k site is not legal wouldn't go there. Jamie McDonald has go to watch himself. THIS IS A MUST DOWNLOAD - February 18, 2002 by Eric Yang

the sound of things to come - i do love that plug in for brilliant sound enhancement even in the unregistered version. and all these other mouth watering presets, gee, i'd spend hours with it. i drop one virtual star for unflexible interface and weird demo mode. what about iZotope-skins? though there are free plugins with almost comparable features, i rate it king despite the interface, it's the sound quality that counts, and Ozone is the real WOW-thang :). matches my acoustical demands almost custom, but it's not the shape of things to come yet. - February 6, 2002 by Kalle Pister

It's Ok - Pretty cool plugin, dig the high tech look and all the options, but pity you have to get the full version to run it properly!takes up enough memory & download time as is! :( - January 27, 2002 by The Skin Hacker

nice - helps greatly with sound quality, i can notice a HUGE difference in 128kbps mp3s - January 23, 2002 by Mike Bidwell

The Best One - Since it was released back in September, The iZotope Ozone audio plugin' is by far the best of them all. Watch out with that disable thing, it's not legal! - January 23, 2002 by joaquim jardim

Why buy when you can get for free - Hi Guy Well this iZotope not too shabby..... Well on the freeware verion pissed me off because of that red window that keeps Fucking apearing everytime I did anything...........Well guess what Guys ???? There's is patch you can download and it disables that fucking pain in the Arse red window and lets you use all the presets "YES ALL THE PRESSETS "!!! You can get download from www.bugs2k.com. Enjoy guys - January 18, 2002 by Jamie McDonald

Yes, it's the best... - I've tried many sound effects plugins for winamp, including Enhancer, and almost all the others... All the times i've deleted them, because I didn't like the way the music sounded but now I found a plugin that is always on, even if it makes my PII 400 Mhz sweat... Most of the times I use the preset "Warm Sounding Equipment" and I must say I never say a plugin doing miracles with the MP3's until now... I don't understand why people say it sucks, when it sounds beautiful in my Videologic Sirocco Crossfire speakers which are still one of the best multimedia speakers on the market... - January 12, 2002 by joao nascimento

great but........ - dont bother trying this unless you have a fast processor and plenty of ram cuz it sucks resources like crazy. - December 23, 2001 by alexander korolyk

Not! - Why should i BUY this product...? Enchancer017 will do it all, for free. - December 22, 2001 by Mauri Valkeasuo

Unbelievable - Comes with too many effects by default. The basic sound (all effects bypassed) is ungodly. Would be worth buying a new computer for. YESSSS, it's that good! Anyway, I would recommend playing with good CDs. This is good enough to be an "invention of the year" - December 19, 2001 by loren cannon

Iz pretty goood - Its cool, Not AMAZING, Sound quality is well done. - December 17, 2001 by J-P D.L.

almost perfect - ok so the demo is too limited (they could have done something like make all the features work only for the first 30 seconds of a song or something), but i took the risk and payed for it.... its VERY worth the money. my only complaint is that it would be nice if it stored its settings in xml + had apis so i could control it otherways without having to fill my screen with its huge window. - December 17, 2001 by Anthony Shortland

INCREDIBLE!!! - Anyone complaining about this plug, is clearly unqualified to make any credible judgement. This is one of the the most impressive DX plugins on the market. And, there are dozens--some of which are incredibly costly, compared to this exceptional sound-editing tool. If you have any intentions of doing sound editing, or you'd just like to have a impressive control over your live audio environment, I would strongly suggest this plugin. If you buy it, you are not wasting your money. - December 3, 2001 by Glitter Bomb

Hot . . . - . . . DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNNNNNNN! - November 30, 2001 by Brent Garber

best thing i've gotten for winamp in a while - I'll start out by fully admitting I'm not a refined audiophile, but I can say that I absolutely love having my entire music collection stored via MP3's on my PC, and spend probably too much time playing my music. I've had DFX for about a year now, and have enjoyed it very much, buy I tried Ozone last week & purchased the registered version on the spot. Part of the reason for purchase is that I simply like playing around with different settings, but the biggest reason was that I simply thought it sounded great. I did a sort of "A/B" comparison (like at the eye doctor) between Ozone & DFX, and although DFX on the surface had a slightly "brighter" sound, my ears told me that Ozone had a decidedly warmer, fuller sound, more what I think the original music is supposed to sound like. The more I've used Ozone over the past weekend, the more I'm certain it's the best sounding thing for my tastes. I think my MP3's sound even better than my CD's. There are some quirks, like others have written. I wish I could minimize it w/o it staying in the tray, and it does use a lot of your PC's resources. But I've not had a problem when I'm simply playing Winamp, and I'm only running an old 350 mhz. I think for $29 it's a great deal. - November 18, 2001 by ed fitzgerald

Not Even Touchable.* - Bottom Line....the best there is. Great customer support,AWESOME sound. If you are downloading progs for free, stay with DFX. If you are NOT a cheapo, and want the best...GET THIS! I did not think my Boston Digital's could sound better. WRONG! If you have $29.00, Seriously....don't be a bone-head. - November 16, 2001 by Ed Snowden

Halleluja - on of the greatest dsp effekts i have ever tried - November 13, 2001 by rikard wikner

it's free, it works. - Ozone Free is the free version that does not expire & makes your life better. - November 12, 2001 by Andrew Morse

TELECHARGEZ LE VITE !!!!!! - TELECHARGEZ LE VITE !!!!!!!! - November 6, 2001 by jean-luc venuti

Still can't remove it - I still can't get this thing off my computer. - November 2, 2001 by Tony Banes

Nice, but uses too many resources - This plug-in produces some great sounds, but it still cannot hold a candle to the DFX-Arboretum Realizor combo (but, out of fairness, nothing ever will.). And it uses about as much RAM as the two put together. - November 2, 2001 by Aaron Gasaway

Best of The Best DSP Plugin - This plugin is kickin' arse. But please add more free preset please.... anyway... best of the best. :-) - October 29, 2001 by mamart_777 mamart

good for destroying winamp - all this plugin did was cause winamp to crash every time I tried open winamp. uninstalling the plugin didn't fix the problem, I was forced to reinstall winamp. thanks for fucking nothing. - October 25, 2001 by Jake Knudsen

Interesting - Good! Try the "Extra wide sound" preset (Live effect) - October 14, 2001 by Giacomo D.

By far the very best - There's nothing I've tried that makes Winamp sound as good as this does. You've got to love what iZotope does. - October 12, 2001 by Mark Catroppa

Very nice sound - I like the sound very much. Very nice product that makes my MP3 files sound much better. Thank you. - October 12, 2001 by IGOR Ravishney

Extreme Bass - This plug is extreme. Butt kicking bass. Kicks the crap out of DFX. See ya. - October 12, 2001 by Bubba Dobo

Mmm... - Good idea but Dee sounds better and it's free as well. - October 11, 2001 by Revd Funk

Who needs an expensive hi fi - I have never bought shareware before, cos you could always find a free alternative, but when I ran Winamp with this, I heard sweet music. You can't complain at the price for something this good. - October 11, 2001 by Joe McKenzie

Still loving it... - Just to help the guy Tony who couldn't run it, go to Start>Program Files>iZotope and select Uninstall iZotope Ozone 1.0 for Winamp. Not something I'd do, but that's all you need to do if you want to :-) Peace, Dave - October 11, 2001 by dave steller

Wow!! This is Great.... - I've never tried anything like this before. So I gave it a shot. I do have to say. The sounds that is coming out of my little speakers is powerfull. And you have to purchase the rest to get to true sound of this DSP - October 10, 2001 by William Morrison

Yeah, that Rocks! - hey, download this! I think its a bit to expensive, but the demo is great! My best wishes to the Team, don't stop creating things like that!!! - October 7, 2001 by Tim Schnurpfeil

Sweet!!!!!! - Very nice. Dramatic improvement in sound on older music. Impressive. - October 6, 2001 by pj shaggy

It rocks but has a few flaws... - I love the way this plugin makes my music sound. It's great but has two major flaws that I pray will be fixed quickly and free of charge. Flaw 1: Limited presets. I'm not exactly MixMaster Mike, so tweaking the values myself always produces bad results, and with the limited number of presets, it's hard finding a preset that goes well with the songs I'm listening too. I listen to a diverse collection of music, so I find the number of presets a limiting factor. Flaw 2: Cannot mix presets. I wear around the ear headphones at work and want to use that preset. However, while listening to a particular song, I can't choose the headphone preset along with the preset for the song I'm listening to. It's one or the other. Aside from that, I highly suggest this plugin. Not only that, but twice I've written to the support department and both times within an hour or so I got a reply. I definitely like that. (P.S. I just had questions, no actual problems with the plug-in working properly). - October 5, 2001 by Thomas Nagashima

Ferrari's use gas - The guy who complained about CPU: totally true but if you are worried about gas mileage you don't drive a Ferrari. this plug-in is cutting edge and your PC isn't. Don't knock it cause you can't run it. - October 3, 2001 by Mr Spunky

PRIMO TO THE MAX !!!!!! - What is it with these plugins just when you think you have the best, the best comes along. This has got to be the #1 thats out there by far.Im using the freebie stuff and the sound is boudacious.HELLO VISA ----GOODBYE DEE!!!! - October 3, 2001 by DON GRADY

Audio File - Just try this plug-in, that's all I can say. Hit the preset button, select the Ozone Free - Extra Wide Sound, crank up the volume and punch your own personal hole in the Ozone layer. Now, go get your credit card because you'll want to see what else this mellisonant plug-in has to offer. Genius! - October 1, 2001 by Tim Joslin

Art deserves art - This is a work of art. In turn I must review in haiku. "Beautiful sounding A UI that is brilliant Good bye DFX" - September 30, 2001 by Swamp Monkey

ATTENTION AUDIOPHILES - WORTHY of SIX * - POSITIVE To anyone who cares about sound quality and the ability to enhance your listening pleasure, BUY THE FULL VERSION. It is worth every cent. This is an exceptional piece of software, and the customer service is also second to none... I tried out Ozone Free, and had a query about use with CD's. To my surprise I actually got an answer back v. quickly. I have a crappy sound card and and crappy speakers, good enough for games but not for fidelity listening. Ozone has overcome this problem. Music now sounds almost as good on my PC as it does on my Hi Fidelity System IMPROVEMENT OPPORTUNITIES 1) Interface not that flexible - resizinge etc. 2) Floating Preset Screen would be useful 3) Increase lumination of sound wave information - September 29, 2001 by The Muse

You know you want it - Makes DFX look like a Fisher Price toy! - September 28, 2001 by Eric Jordan

good but didn't like my system - sorry to say I installed it and it messed my sound blaster live software up and needed to reset my system that and I get better sound with the emu10k processor but well it was running it sounded good makes a cheeper sound card sound grate had it on my other system sounded grate but slows the system a bit this is good for cheep sound cards and speakers I would give it 5 stars accept I loaded it and right after I could not use my audio HQ software even after i closed the plugin the the computer frozz up and i needed to reset it - September 28, 2001 by derek stamour

Holy Sh*t! - Im only 13 with no money but im going to actually work for once to buy this plugin.im an audio enthusiast and iv'e never heard my cheap 35 doller speaker system sound so good!(young audio enthusiast) - September 27, 2001 by Nick Laho
