The essential Karaoke plug-in - Stereo music is often made with vocals and bass in the center channel. If you mix back a reversed and inverted version, the center sounds will cancel out. Unlike other karaoke plug-ins, DeFX also uses a filter to add the bass back in. If you don't get this effect with your music it was made with "spatial enhancers" and the stereo field was set up mostly for ambient effects. You can also check the quality of your MP3s. Distortion in poor MP3s shows up better when the center channel is removed. A 160kbs track sometimes sounds much worse than a 128Kbs, DeFX is a great way to help choose between two copies of the same track. The bass filter could be sharper, the effects calibrated, but otherwise a great plug-in. - May 21, 2004 by Robert Forrester

EXCELLENT KARAOKE PLUG-IN! - This plug-in is simply THE BEST for removing vocals while retaining the background music and vocals. Its quality is similar to equipment costing $1000's. Da Madman - I think some of the problems we're having may be because we need a soundcard upgrade. Don't blame the program. This is simple and to the point. Presets and all would be nice, but heh. Best vocal remover - Thanks for this wonderful plug-in. The vocal remover enhancement is great! One thing it could have could be the possibility of some presets, or even beter: it could remember each song settings so that I don't have to play arround with the band selector for the karaoke. DeFX vo 97 - PLEASE consider that this Pluggin like all the other ones does not truly contain a vocal remover. What it actually does is enhance the Surround Sound. To be more specific it's the same thing as when you take the positive wires of two speaker outputs (LEFT and RIGHT channels) and connect them to the negative and positive terminals of the speaker. That what you hear my friend is Surround Sound. In fact, you can be able to have a Surround Sound system using just a two channel receiver or radio etc. Trust me I've done this, and Now I have a surround sound system worth more than $200 dolars for just $40 dollars because thats how much my radio costed. Hooooo buddy,,,,, - Wow, this has AMAZING vocal removal. I can quality like this with Cool Edit Pro (which I use for all my professional mixing!). Astounding. If he would just make this into a DirectX plugin, I would be in heaven. In addition, a numeric counter for each slider would make it easier to know the range of each, and therefore assign values quicker and more accurately. Other than that, great job. Even the reverb is pretty damn nice (matches that of a simple pro effects module). Keep up the good work! - August 9, 2001 by Matt Long
