Dee3 for Winamp2 - Featured Plugin, November 13, 2003.

Staff review

Very handy audio enhancer

Very straightforward interface with three large and colorful knobs: bass, treble, and surround. Dee3 comes with a solid list of presets that can be accessed thru hotkey combos...which comes in really handy. Definitely worth checking out.

Don't like it - Hi there. I've been Using dee since it's first version 1.0 and i liked it, than came the 1.2 which was great. The dee2 was the wanted update for the new technologies and it was also great. The 2.2 version didn't like me a lot but when came the third version of dee I started getting a lot of issues while using it. At first it IS NOT a Dsp effect but if you get it to work correctly you should like it a lot.I realise crashes and sometimes read-only clicking to the control panel and in the main interface. Well now I use windows 7 andd i can't get it to work! That makes me so angry (in vista the things are the same) - August 22, 2009 by manev.mitko

Can't use! - Can't click any buttons on the Dee3 controller with Winamp 5.5. - January 27, 2009 by Yuki Matsukura

Dee > Dee3 - Not as good as the original Dee :oThe first Dee is the best imo, and it still works (Winamp 5.35) d:> - August 16, 2007 by Abi S.

Another great fool-in - Amazing.. People asking MONEY for plug-ins. And they don't even tell it here. In my country that's called misleading advertising and it's punishable by law. I like winamp because it's free and the plug-ins were free, but thats a long time ago i see. If this keeps up i'm gonna give windows media player another chance. At least they are honest when they try to rip people off. They don't show beatifull things that you will NEVER get unless you're an idiot with a credit card. To put it another words: Great work on the plug-in you could make money with programming, if only you weren't so hung up on that green stuff. Wake up and smell the roses. There's more to life than demanding money. Have fun, Edgar - April 3, 2007 by Edgar deVries

it is the best???!!! and the only!!!??? - hy all. sorry for my poor english. this plugin make a great work more than 1 year with a sound blaster live 5.1 sound card and after vith an audigy sound card. there was some crashes, but with a single winamp restart i fix the problem. more than that this plugin works 100% with some reasmpeling plugins and than with diredct sound output. { resampeling(32;24 bit 48000;96000Hz - dee3 - direct sound ). thanks for this great plugin U save me from a lot of work. :) - December 28, 2006 by zoli zoli

It doesn't work anymore - I used to use this plugin all the time about a year ago and I loved it, but for the past few months it hasn't been working right. The main window would have some weird frame around it and the advanced interface and plugins would kinda open up in the main winamp window.. It's just really screwed up. I've tried it on many other computers but it does the same thing. Hopefully this problem will get fixed soon because I love this plugin.. when it wants to work. - November 5, 2006 by adam miloshevsky

Unstable - Dee3 instantly Crashes Winamp 5.2 on my XP PC - even after de/re-installing with no other DSP-plugins active. Since the majority of WA2-plugins work pretty smooth with WA5, I give it a whopping 1 stars out of 5. - March 6, 2006 by m4rc m4rc

It does not work with Winamp 5.13 - I installed DEE3 but, It does not work with Winamp 5.13.. Is there a way to fix it? - February 6, 2006 by Michael Powell

Any suggestions? - Hey kids The overall concept seems sound.....but its so hard to get this sounding right! I listen to everything, classical techno metal rap etc etc and so on and so forth..... The big questions for me are: 1. How do I stop the voice in the middle of the sound from getting lost....i play metal and i just lose the voice, and i've been tweaking for hours! 2. How do I stop all the noise....I've got noise reduction to 100% and there is still crackles everywhere, and I'm running 256kb vbr mp3s recorded from cd....no crackles if i set it to stereo! Please send out a more detailed user manual!!!! - May 14, 2005 by Xobel Qlari

Hey, I liked it... try it out for yourself. - I had a problem getting my 5.1 system to sound good with winamp for some odd reason. Everything else was awesome, DVDs played well, games made use of the 5.1 system, but winamp did not.... untill I downloaded this plug-in and boy did it sound awesome. Heck, I've never heard a cleaner sound come out of winamp, and its all thanks to Dee3. Problems... yeah, confusing Advanced options... and it doesn't like my center channel. Give it a shot. - April 26, 2005 by Bert Fonzo

WTF? - Somebody posted in a review that this plugin is better than OctiMax, so I gave it try. Well, first of all, this lowered my sound so that it was barely audible (I usually have Winamp set at 15% (I have a hardware amp), but after I installed this I had to turn it up to 80% to get the same volume! As for the setting themselves? They all SUCK! Every single preset makes the music sound WORSE. To top it all off, the effects do'nt go away when you close the plugin and even restart winamp - you've got to uninstall completely. Steer far away from this C-R-A-P! - April 5, 2005 by Edvard Edwards

Reasonable plug-in if you don't listen to music - I was a user of Dee v1.1 & recently realised that I hadn't upgraded in a while. Dee3 installed nicely, but other than the basic interface, the advanced interface is pretty confusing despite my being a comitted audiophile. I just used the presets & tweaked them from there. The software looks a little homemade & the website links don't work. The main issue I have is with the sound quality. At low volume & with just over half gain on the bass & treble I was getting clipping on my test track (The Corrs - Even If). As the chorus starts the louder music clips & also the volume stays the same - despite the whole band playing their hearts out. In conclusion, the inital sound is good as it creates some depth even with no reverb settings. The music however is made too "warm sounding" & the level clipping makes the sound quality unacceptable to me. - March 29, 2005 by Nick Hill

still the best. - I've been using Dee2 for some time now and I decided to get this. It produces a better sound than its predecessor and has more options. Dee2 looked better (I miss the lumiscent blue and silver), but I guess that's kind of irrelevant :/ Although Oss3d is quite magnificent sound-wise, it's a bit complex to use and the 30-day free trial might be a little... intimidating?? Anyway, Dee3 is free and easy to use. Once you install it, be sure to check out the website that pops up on your web browser; a little manual (if you will) for the plug-in. In the years that I've been using Winamp, I would recommend 2 DSP plug-ins: Dee2 or Dee3. - February 9, 2005 by derick DAMMIT

BEST plugin ever - A littlebit hard to control at the begining, but has a lot of features. Recommended for real hi-fi sound system. - January 5, 2005 by Mike The MAN

Nice PI - www - December 21, 2004 by Martin K

Looks nice but 100% cpu? - I like using it but I like being able to still use my computer. Granted a 650mhz machine is fairly old but that's insaine. - October 31, 2004 by Nick Jones

Best ever 5.1 surround plugin - its the best 5.1 surround plugin 4 winamp. it can make a 2 channel mp3 sound nearly like a 5.1 channel encoded song(ac3). but newcomers beware. its setup is complex, but default 5.1 setup works fine. if u can tweak well then u can feel the kick in u r mp3s. it gotta backdrop of eatin CPU power. so u need a powerful system(p4 2GHz works fine). gr8 work Michal Charydczak. its free too, so no trial period worries nor spyware probs. keep up u r good work. 5 stars boss - October 7, 2004 by Aniruddha Biswas

Great Plugin for the Audiophile - Ameteur sound tweakers beware, as simple as this plugin may look, each slider is a powerful tool that can dramatically alter sound frequencies with the tiniest adjustment. Play with it without reading the help file, and you may end up making your music sound even worse. However, read the help file throughly, and once you get the hang of it, you can pump out the smoothest bass waves, highest treble notes, and flawless midsections...if you have the time to sit down for an hour and really tweak this thing... After messing around with it for about an hour... I've managed to pull out those frequencies hidden deep in mp3s and hear my music in a new way. - September 11, 2004 by Ross Reynolds

too bad. :( - This is the only plug-in which looks like it would produce realistic 5.1 surround. Unfortunately it just crashes winamp. Installing it causes Winamp to not load fully, and uninstalling it 'fixes' Winamp. (Side note: Power DVD is great with putting music in a convincing 5.1 PLII mode... ) - May 14, 2004 by Bruce Main

Excellent.... - First time using it with my 5.1 audio card .... I was truly impressed ... it did alot better job than the software that came with the card - May 3, 2004 by Ken Pike

Crashes WAV files - Awesome at what it does for MP3s and such, but... When I try to play a WAV file, it won't let it play unless it's upmixed to 16 bit...then it crashes Winamp at the completion of the wave file playing. If they can fix that, 5 stars. - February 24, 2004 by Josh Riggs

DEE3 WORKS COOL!!!!!! - This DSP is COOL! EVERYBODY MUST DOWNLOAD IT NOW!!!!!!!! - February 1, 2004 by Diego Ahumada

Great - Very nice, runs great under Windows XP and my 5.1 surround set. Thanks a lot :-) - January 22, 2004 by Martin .

Excellent - I was finally happy finding such a great plugin!! - January 8, 2004 by Rene Kretzschmar

Better Than Dee2 - Best what you can get. - January 4, 2004 by Jussi Sariola

Nice job! - Nice job, a good sound enhancer for stereo music. However, with my Live! 5.1, the center speaker is not playing any sound. - December 23, 2003 by Eric Buist

yo - cummon, this is a nice enhancement. though I opted for oss3d, this one is nice as well and supports 5.1 - December 22, 2003 by Richard Tannen

WHAT - Problems? You bet. This is an output plugin which means you can't disable it without deleting it & it uses WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy too much resources. I also agree with wqe qwe. It DEFINATELY NEEDS IMPROVEMENT! - December 1, 2003 by Alex Livington

me look for long time - I've been looking a long time for a plugin such as Dee 3. If you enable hardware acceleration in Direct Sound output setting (which the program uses) you can get 5.1 sound that sounds pretty darn good. And it is a good DSP for sound quality too. - November 25, 2003 by Craig McDougall

can't disable dee 2 - I love the plugin but when I try to disable it I get a window that says registry crash blah blah blah - November 24, 2003 by Squee_22 M

From O.C.G. - I'm no impressed.This could be better! - November 22, 2003 by wqe qwe

The Best! - Hey PPL, Try this & I bet you'll love it. It will take a while to get used to its controls, but after you're through with this, you can PUMP-UP your music like anything. Waaaaaay better than all other components likes of DFX, OSS and blah, blah. It even outperformed Dee 2.20! Believe me, give it a try and I bet you'll love it. - November 21, 2003 by alien satrun

Sounds very good - It is the first Winamp plug-in I succeded to produce 5.1 sound :) Also the bass enhancement is super! 5 stars! - November 11, 2003 by K W
