AWE32/64 native plugin (ver 1.10final)
AWE32/64 native plugin (ver 1.10final)AWEamp is a WinAMP output plugin allowing to play Winamp's output through AWE32/AWE64 wavetable MIDI interface. You may ask why to use such break-neck way to play wave audio, when wave-out plugin works good. Here are listed some of the benefits which AWEamp brings:- Audio data are played through AWE midi interface so wave-out output is still available for other sounds (system sounds, games - I've tried Need for Speed 3 for instance and works good except starting of song when WinAMP took 100% of CPU time. Btw. tested on Pentium III 450 MHz & AWE32).- AWEamp controls AWE builtin DSP processor (emu8000) so you can use variety of audio effects similar to those of SB Live!- High quality Chorus and Reverb effects with lots of presets.- Presets compatible with AWEFXWorkshop.- Hardware bass and treble equalization.- Stereo channel positioning (left-center-right).- Hardware lowpass filter.- Tremolo, Vibrato and filter sweep.- Control panel can be invoked quickly by using tray menu.

AWEampFor those of you with the Soundblaster AWE32/64 sound card, you can now use this plugin to take full advantage of your card and Winamp. Allows for you to run Winamp while playing a game, sound efx, etc.

Perfect - I have used this plugin and it works perfectly for it's purpose. However, it has a limitation because there are certain sounds that MIDI cannot reproduce as well as other formats. For instance, I was listening to the Megaman X5 staffroll and it distorted the intentional noise that was used in the song. You might want to implement a type of differential comparison between the soundcard output and the actual file so that AWEamp can monitor its quality. - December 3, 2006 by Anthony Tuttle
Just... WOW! - Not only this little plugin resolved issues about incorrectly played MP3s (or the classic MMSYSTEM032 error), not only it frees the WAVE output for other programs and games, but quality is superior to the waveOut and DirectSound plugins! And on top of that, there's an incredible amount of configs to make the output better, and with special effects included if desired! Wish I could rerecord the output of this beauty on new MP3s! Sadly, I found small bugs in it: v.1.11 has a bug that disables the ability to scroll while sound is playing, so use v.1.10 (this one). Also you can't use the "Add Dir" option while music is playing, it will cause Winamp to crash. This small obstacle can be avoided by selecting multiple files in the "Add File" or in the OS, or simply by stopping music before. Conclusion: For AWE32/64 or compatible cards, this is a MUST! - August 7, 2005 by Smash Maniac
VERY COOL FOR SOUND BLASTER!! - This plug in is perfect for sound blaster awe32 or awe 64 if you have this card you must use it!!!!!!!!!!! - March 3, 2005 by Ciccio Pasticcio
wow! it's played in WinXP... not bad :) - simply i have to say - SUPERB Plugin BUT - you need for WinXP newer version 1.11 - its really works under WinXP - because declared to work under 9x/nt/W2k with Regards and Respect - July 18, 2004 by Alexander Razmayenko
broken for Win2000 - Worked nice when I was still running Win98, but badly needs rewritten for Win2000. - March 8, 2004 by Jeremiah Miller
Great for my old card - Pense que ya no tenia nada mas que hacer con mi AWE64, pero este plugin es genial. Tiene algunos bugs, pero de todas formas es excelente. Klaus!. - February 19, 2004 by Klaus Voncroif
Got AWE? Get this! - Love this Plugin! Makes the hassle of putting my AWE64 Gold in this computer worthwile! If you can get it to work, it's worth it! Now my beloved soundcard is even more beloved!!! :) - July 8, 2003 by Joshua Classon
PRAISE for this great plugin!!! - I never write plugin reviews, but this time I'm ethicaly forced to do so :-) This is one of the best contributions to the AWE 32/64 community ever made. This plugin is indeed AWEsome, and a must-install for all AWE32/64 owners. Sorry for the people it didn't work for. Now I am even more proud about my beloved AWE64!! - August 8, 2002 by Plinio Ga?i
AWEsome - I tried this on a computer I put in the living room to play through the stereo. It is a P166 non-MMX with 48 meg. ram, running Win98. With the wave out and the direct sound I was getting skips once in a while and tried everything to stop them, then I tried this and it fixed it. Plays perfectly and sounds great too. WOW !!!! - August 1, 2002 by Rick R
Better than sex? - Well, not quite.. ;) Still, this is probably the best thing I've seen since the invention of sliced bread. I installed it and noted that it needed memory on the AWE-card. Since I never bothered to install any, I kind of forgot about it for a while. Then I rememberd the plugin today and found a couple ram-chips, installed them and voila! It works!! The sound is very good and I do like the features it provides, such as invert phase on one channel, channel panning, access to the AWE EQ functions. If you have an AWE-card, you NEED this! Just pray it works for you.. :) - July 30, 2002 by Marcus Agehall
Creative should have done this years ago!!! - This is the perfect plugin for anyone and everyone who has the AWE32/64 soundcard. I run a PII450, 256MB RAM. On a typical day I run a minimum of browser windows (Netscrape and IiiieeeE), Eudorah-rah-rah, and an active desktop with a dancing Lum animated GIF. This often distorts the sound using the standard WAV outpout. Now all skips and distortions are gone!!!! If this plugin doesn't crash your system, NEVER TURN IT OFF!! You'll thank me for the advice. - April 13, 2002 by Tom Lent
Lucky boy I am ! - This plugin is a bit buggy on the saving of the desired settings but the sound output I am getting by useing a little bit of the CATHEDRL reverb and a tiny bit of the water chorus morphed together sound fantastic through my bose sound system. Well done, when this thing works it sounds as good, if not better than the origional recording. just a shame I can't chain other output pluggins like crossfaders to it.Can't have everything for nothing I suppose - February 8, 2002 by Steve West
Hmmm ??? - I installed this plugin and it trashed my WinAmp. The only way I could get it running again was to completely un-install it. I have an AWE64 Card. I gave a one star rating only because I am willing to give the benefit of doubt that my card was compatible. Sorry, no like .... - February 5, 2002 by Don Hennessey
The best plugin for Winamp - I couldn't believe what this can do! It uses resources of my sound board that i didn't imagined that existed! On the hardware, not software! The best so far! - February 4, 2002 by Sam K
shame i don't have any isa slots anymore... - used it on my old computer, worked great, upgraded, and unfortunately my new mobo doesn't have any isa slots ): the answer to the question of what makes a awe64 so great anyhow? - January 7, 2002 by scott bedard
This Dont Work With WinXP - Dont Install on WinXp if you do dont say i did not tell you you will get all kinds of error msg if you dont know how to clear them up like i did you will be pissed and have to reformat your system - January 1, 2002 by Clyde Sostand
AWEsome! :) - OMG the effects are incredible since the soundcard is doing them all in hardware... and it works with all my Visualizations includeing my spectrumanalyser for my LCD :) installation was a little difficult since i run Windows 2000 Professional... driver initally crashed MotherBoard Monitor 5 and winamp... but i restarted both and everything works great now! keep up the good work! - December 20, 2001 by Frank Echanique

It wont work - I cannot get this plugin to detect my AWE 64! I really really want to use it, i run windowsME and use the driver that come with it, if someone can help please mail me. [email protected] - August 14, 2001 by Daniel Ashby
LOL ! - You're plug-in is great, but you're first in the stats. I don't like that. Sorry. - August 8, 2001 by Mr Bigglesworth The Great
... so what's the difference ? - I'm listening to some trance right now and I can't tell the difference in sound between the Wave output and the MIDI. Maybe my system is running slower, but hey, I get to listen to all those wonderful clicks and cracks of Windows. And, now I can actually play other music apps without conflicts! Great job! - August 3, 2001 by David Cheung
AWEamp - gotta try it - July 28, 2001 by Omkar Sankaran
Creative should take a lesson! - I saw this plugin while surfing and for 4 years my 512KB RAM on my awe64 was USELESS since I don't use MIDI much. I just can say I couldn't believe a plugin uses my own sound cards features would be written anytime! I am giving 5 stars not just it is one of the most advanced DSP plugins available, I am giving 5 stars because it must be considered a driver even! If you have a sound card with AWE name on it, get it! It is worth more than Creative's core drivers. - July 23, 2001 by Ilgaz cal
This is EXCELLENT!!! - EXCELLENT! It?s the best word to describe it! Very ingenious and usefull. The plug-in makers should learn with this guy. If you don?t like it, is just because you don?t have SB AWE.Great!!! - July 16, 2001 by Louis Stallinger
Supreme Output On AWE Soundcards! - This plug-in is really great for all ya Winamp users runnin' on a SoundBlaster AWE-32 or 64...! Pump up yer AWE-soundcard with this ass-kicking output plugin! - June 22, 2001 by Joost de Snoo
