Staff review

BPM slider

Very useful tool for mp3 dj's out there... a nice sexy interface too. Calculates BPM as well... nice feature. Check out www.atomixmp3.com for more neat tools. -dg

BPM is off - It's a great tool for changing the speed of tracks but I'm certail that the BMP count isn't correct. I've tried it on several songs that I know the BMP of and it's been quite a way off. On the other hand, the slider works pretty well though I do find myself accidentally hitting the atomixmp3 link far too often. - October 16, 2008 by Greg Lees

Awesome idea, extremely buggy. - I love the idea, and it works very well when it doesn't freeze winamp. It doesn't sound bad for my stuff atleast for what I've played so far. However I'm having a terrible time with it freezing winamp. Very sad because I like this thing a lot. - January 27, 2008 by Leonard Sutherlin

With a nice addon feature... - Well, I neither had a problem with setting this plugin up nor that it caused Winamp to crash (thankfully). Unlike BPMeter, AtomixBPM also offers a possibility to process files with a slower or higher speed (which is a fun gimmick). However, the main purpose for me to get and try this was that I was/am looking for an accurate bpm meter. Here the problem starts...AtomixBPM is toggling the bpm output permanently (and hectically), just like BPMeter, and I have reasonable doubts about the accuracy (being a musician/producer myself) of the result(s). One second it displays 115, next 97 bpm :o(I don't think that such a plugin should leave you guessing at the correct speed of a song. I'm afraid this either has to be developed further, or someone else has to try the job of creating a useful bpm meter. - January 8, 2008 by az frankie

sweet - i don't know what you crazy people are thinking..but i've played quite a few songs now with this plug-in running, and the bpm counter has been waaaaaay off on every song. right now it is rating this slower tempo hip-hop song, at 133bpm, when it is most likely no more than 95bpm. oh well - October 28, 2007 by bill sullivan

not good - As stated before, It crashes your WinAMP, besides the fact the bpm indicator isn't reliable. You can try it, as the pitch works, when working.. however, I don't recommend this as a download. - October 3, 2007 by Maxaemillion DeMorrow

Neat, Good sound, but crashes Winamp - This plugin has some nice features such as the BPM readout. Unfortunately it suffers from the dreaded crash when changing tracks syndrome. This problem is common with many of the slowdown plugins. The sound is quite good unlike some of the plugins. It only has a range of +- 20 tempo change. The plugin has a confusing face because it is labeled as changing the pitch, but it really only changes the tempo. - September 29, 2007 by John Clement

old crap - Hangs winamp (5.24 on winx) - July 26, 2006 by Torbjorn Svensson

crashing plugins = shame - it true does crash winamp. i' m using version 5. update your plugin, kid ! - March 31, 2006 by grzesiu onehorn

suck - making winamp crash all the time... useful tool but only if working right. dont download!!! - September 26, 2005 by Eli Goldhar

Failed all expectations - I found this plugin interesting, but because it keeps on crashing Winamp I'm not going to continue using it. In fact if this is anything as an example of thier programming I wouldn't spend any money on their AtomixMP3 software either. Poor show guys... at least make the plugin work properly. - November 1, 2004 by Winamp User

nice but - it's perfect for my will to discover bpm of my tracks fast, but it got no docking option, and the size is kinda huge mayby the slider should be vertical instead... the skin looks good:) and i'm glad it has the nice timestretch atomixmp3 has so it diserve the 4 stars i give it - May 16, 2004 by dm909 dm909

Nice but crashes - I like the idea, and ideed it correctly computed the bpm for a song I had, but it crashed right after... so I restarted winamp and it crashed again, so I deleted it. Please think of fixing that bug (I was using DirectSound) - May 16, 2003 by Andrei Toma

KILLER! - no real point to this thing, but it's a shitload of fun to use. considering most tempo programs ive used make it sound like chipmunks singing if i speed it up, well you get what im sayin. this program keeps it EXACTLY the same. its really cool, check it out. - October 3, 2002 by Noodle(s) Head

Useful BUT not very stable - It's a very exact beat counting plugin. However it has a lot of bugs, sometimes it crashes winamp. It would be grat if it was more stable. - May 20, 2002 by Valentin Mueller

Fantastic Under XP - I ran this plug-in under Windows 98SE and every conceivable problem you can think of happened. I tried every recommendation made but nothing worked. I eventually gave up. Recently I have upgraded operating systems to Windows XP Pro. Not happy that I gave up I thought I?d give it a go again. This Plug-in went from my worst enemy to my best buddy. I did not give five stars because it will not pick the BPM of percussion intro's. - May 7, 2002 by Jack Lonin

WTF?! - Just when you think you've solved the problem by switching to Direct Sound Output, another problem occurs. This program would be great if the bugs were fixed. - March 16, 2002 by Thomas Chun

hmmmm... - doesnt do much, was a bit dissapointed with it,you have download it properly from its website! - February 2, 2002 by The Skin Hacker

It's ALL about DirectSound - For those of you having problems, go to your preferences and choose the DirectSound plugin (options/preferences/plug-ins/output). This cured the stuttering and locking up for me. As far as accuarcy, it seems as good as the onboard BPM counter on the Pioneer DJM-500 mixer and on the Numark BeatCounter. It just makes it incredibly handy to be able to log the BPM for those DJs who are maintaining a library and want to be more accurate and thorough. - December 3, 2001 by Steve Tighe

Pretty nice, but... - My first reaction was 'TOTALLY SHITTY', but after trying it with directsound I kinda liked it after all!! The only thing is that I'm not really convinced that the measuring is correct!! Anyone else thought about that? - October 5, 2001 by Martin [no more, no less]

OK, but some problems... - Currently crashes after playing approx. 5 songs under Winamp 2.76. Wrote the author; hoping for a fix... As for the clicking/distortion problems, switch your output plugin to DirectSound and it will go away. - August 5, 2001 by Michael Fischer

this thing ruinid my winamp!!!!!!!!! - This friggin thing crashed my winamp four times & cracked the whole time it played...all in all it sux royal donkey balls, whoever wrote this should be shot in the head with a Desert Eagle .45 - July 24, 2001 by Matt Blair

okay - They should have gave it more controls and better bpm control - June 30, 2001 by Kenny Jones

You've got to be kidding. - Those reviews have got to be fluff. This plug-in has clicking that's not even subtle. And when you run more than one instance, the second crashes. - June 21, 2001 by Majik Fox

love it!!! - Nothing else to say, I'm affraid!! - May 23, 2001 by Rama Ron

Really impressive - This way I can mix with two winamps. - April 25, 2001 by blaman orange
