Album List is back! Totally rewritten to take advantage of Winamp5 and added a lot of new features! In a nutshell, Album List takes your organized directories and turns them into an easy to use list.

Even though the Media Library will do for most people, this little plugin gives a different perspective on your music collection. It will also start your music where you left of when you last closed Winamp.

Was the most prefered pugin for me! - Look at the date of the submission, and check out other peoples comments. This does not work for current version of Winamp. Perfect if you still have a winamp 2 or 3 somewhere!That said.....This Plug-in WAS GREAT! Loved the album art for its time! I kept installed through the winamp upgrades until i purchased pro and did a clean install for winamp. What I did not know was this little guy did the "play random album" after the last track in your play list has finished. I miss that feature SO much! I could also use a new way of starting the play list exactly where it left off when winamp is closed. To the author: Since winamp basically incorporates your idea for the album list in its media library now, could you create a small simple plug-in with just the two mentioned features? super, then disappointed - This would be an awesome pulg-in, but it is still not doing what you expect from such a pulg-in: Display your album folders together with the cover and to display a songlist of every album if you click on it. It would also be nice if one could group the albums (not the single songs) according to music style. Unfortunately Winamp also crashed after installing the plug-in when I open Winamp's preferences. Works great, love it. But... - ...I just wish I could sort a little more. Artist>Year is a good start, but I'd like to be able to sort by path>artist>year, for example (I just don't like how "various artists" gets thrown in with the rest of the "V" artists, and for file sorting purposes I have albums and compilations separated). A few more options like that would be excellent, and would make this a perfect plugin. My suggestion would be to have drop-down menus in the Preferences window that allow the user to pick a few options for sorting instead of (in addition to?) the right-click menu. - January 25, 2008 by Captain Spectacular

Bah. - Don't bother if you don't sort your mp3's into "album" folders, or include the album title in your mp3 names. I don't use either of these sorting conventions and thus found that Album List didn't provide me with a useable list. However, I don't give it a zero rating for that... I give it a zero rating because my Winamp is now screwed up as a result of installing this plug-in. It crashes every time I open Winamp's preferences. THE NUMBER 01 PLUG-IN!!! - If you have alot of full CDs on your computer and use winamp, this is the plug-in you have been looking for. After using this plug-in for around four months now I must say, without Album List 2 I could never use winamp again. I have about 46GB of music and hate loading just one CD at a time, so I had a 10000+ song playlist. That sucked hard so I started looking for a solution to my problem and found this little gem.THIS PLUG-IN ROCKS SO HARD! It does everything I ask it to, it does just what it said it did and does it well. I was close to giving up on winamp but not any more. THIS NEEDS TO BE BUILT IN WITH WINAMP FROM NOW ON!This plug-in gave me a new window to play with. The new window loads all of my music CDs from my selected music folder and will now show the info I choose to display in my list.The info I like to show is as followed, Artist name, CD title, Release year, Number of songs & total album run time. There is more info you can have it display and it will show whatever info you want, whatever way you want.The built in playlist window is now used for showing the tracks of the CD you choose from the Album List. Pretty awesome, but...! - This is definitely what Winamp needs, and makes listening to & browsing music a joy when you have all your album artwork in your collection.But beware the "Cache Covers" option (as of v2.06)! With just over 1,000 albums, each with their cover art (both in folder.jpg and embedded within each track), enabling "Cache Covers" causes winamp to freeze for up to 10 minutes when attempting to quit (otherwise a ctrl-alt-del to kill it). It will do this every time (implying it's trying to re-cache always upon exit, rather than use any old cache... or perhaps it's failing to create the cache each time).Disabling the cache doesn't cause this problem and it runs fine without the cache option, displaying album art extremely quickly each time... it's just that one problem just steals half a point from a 5 rating! Fabulous, should be standard with WinAmp - I posted a comment on Jan. 7th, 2007 and would actually like that deleted. I have no idea why I had some trouble setting this neat plug-in up at first, but it works perfectly fine since. I like the visual of being able to select from all the neat thumbs, it's like selecting directly from my CD shelf. A very useful addition to the WinAmp library. Keep up the good work! Suggestion: In a future version I would like Album List to enhance the possibility to jump to a certain album, or to certain artists (in thumbs view). The way it works now it directly starts to play a certain album (which is not what "jump to" means). When you have 2,500 or more albums it's sometimes a bit tricky to search a particular album via the scroll bar only. So, the 'searchability' should probably be enhanced. - April 13, 2007 by az frankie

Very Fun! - I enjoy this plug-in. It makes your music library seem like it has character by listing out the album covers. I enjoy opening winamp to this view all the time. Although, this version crashes when you view it in the preferences menu if you're running windows vista. you can go to their site and download the latest version that has a fix for it, though. Not essential - But well worth having. There was something special about looking through your record collection before Cd's and looking at all the covers. This brings back some of that enjoyment. Winamp crashed repeatedly - After installing the plug-in, it took a long time to scan all my albums (approx. 2,300 as of yet). Trying to configure th plug-in, WinAmp crashed repeatedly. I wasn't able to call the cover thumb view promoted here, or edit any other details. I'm not sure whether my rating is justified, but right now I'm disappointed. - January 7, 2007 by az frankie

Another great plug-in. - This does everthing it says it can do. To see all my albums and their covers in one window. It almost feels like shopping in a store to see them all at once. This by far is the best plug-in I have used for Winamp. Everytime a friend comes over and sees what it does they have to have it. I have given it to over 15 friends and they have given it to their friends and work mates. So far I haven't heard one complaint. I don't know how I got along without it all these years. Very good so far - Extremely good plug-in with solid programming and great features. However, I do have a few issues with this which is why I only gave it 3 stars. 1. I'd like to see album list integrated into the media library views rather than being an external window. (see AlbumView plugin) 2. It is only possible to access the menu by right-clicking on an album, even when selecting "view" or other non-album-specific tasks. I'd like to see a title bar menu. 3. This one is asthetic only, but, I'd like a view that isn't so intensive. A bit of a space between the album covers with the artist/album displayed beneath (check out the AlbumView plug-in to see what I mean)... much easier on the eyes! 4. Some compilations appear as "various artists - album" whilst others appear as "track 1 artist - album" 5. 1700+ album covers - slows winamp down to a halt. Overall the plug-in has lots of potential. All the best bits of AlbumList and AlbumView would be the perfect jukebox/coverart plug-in. - January 12, 2006 by joe constantine

I even went back here AND registered just to rate your "!"-plug-in. One small thing keeps the 5th star from my rating (so, it's only a 4,9): The Language may be adaptable by the txt-file, but there are still a few words, that are NOT in this file, so those remain untranslated. This plugin should be included by default with a Winamp download - Excellent plugin! This plugin has lots of kick-ass features and good configurability. Brilliant Plugin - I do love the winamp ML - can't fault it in any way... but this is awesome to quikly view your album info (especially total playing time) if u have loads of music and often listen to albums as a whole. The winamp ML should really have something like this built in to it. Brilliantly made - totally configurable, including global hotkeys - and it doesnt matter what skin u use, as it uses the current skin to build its apperance! Great Tool... A few problems - This is a great tool for someone like me who likes to listen to full albums (it is easier to read than the Media Library). It seems to not pick up the time on all albums though (I can't figure out when it is working and when it is not). It also mislabes some albums (this seems to be random also). The only other thing I would recommend is to have an option to alway add the album to the play list sorted by track number. great - Although AL was designed before the the ML, it still has enough features to keep it usable. Great for people who love 1970's FM radio (Listening to complete albums at a time).
