EQ10 is back

Due to many requests, here I present the original 4Front EQ10 equalizer port to Winamp5.

This is a professional high quality equalizer, with FAT sound and MP3restore modes, to use with Winamp5. Equalizer bands have dynamic range of -20dB...+20dB (standard winamp equalizer has only -6dB...+6dB).

EQ10 is useful for those who want to bring punch and fidelity to their sound collection.

EQ10 is different from other equalizers with feature, that it allows adding bass and high frequencies without distortion or harsh sound.

Staff review

Simply installed and is set as the current dsp.

This works very well and the quality sounds good (even when using aggressive settings).

If you're into dsp, then this is one to at least try out.

simple...works..sounds good - I'm pretty picky when it comes to my sound. I've only found a handfull of digital-software based EQ's in my life..and generally have to wrap a VST plugin in Winamp to find a suitable result...but this thing let me dial-in the optimal settings for my headset rather quickly. Too powerful!!!! - A nice interface and a doddle to use...but it wouldn't work for me on winamp....only windows media player for some reason? As regards the overall performance...i would say it works very well indeed. (too well infact) This device is NOT recommended for use with small speakers as it is just FAR too powerful and sensitive on every band and you will not notice the advantages. To get the FULL potential of this software i recommend a powerful amp with a pair of large speakers of which can handle BASS! My only flaws are that it is a little overpowering and requires very careful 'tweaking' to adjust the levels to a near decent sound as it is far too BASS heavy and has far too much 'treble' and it takes time to get the correct adjustments to a near decent listening level. - December 17, 2006 by Andy Carlton

Seems good, but maybe does not do what I expected... - I don't see how to get the 20-20,000 Hz range. I get 55hz at lower end and can't seem to change it. The "Lower" and "Upper" boxes on the right don't seem to have an effect. I know that is close to 20, but the Winamp default is 60. Nothing but problems - After installing 4Front EQ10 Winamp5 version I was greated with nothing but problems. First off I was very ticked off there were no detailed instructions. After 25 minutes and trial and error, I got it to work and then nothing but crashes and desktop lockup's. Secound, this program does not like other DSP's running, like Home Boy VU Meters. I need my VU meters for streaming shoutcast and when used with 4Front EQ10, Winamp, and half my desktop blue screens. 4Front EQ10 keeps reporting that other DSP's are running and must be closed, I found this to tick me off to no end because I run up to 5 DSP's while streaming music. Also uninstalling was a nightmare too. I had to restore my OS, thank god for Norton Ghost Restore. I gave this plugin a rating of -1- because It simply didn't work for me, nor did it impress me. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure its a wonderful product, but sorry, I guess I was not one of the lucky ones. - June 28, 2005 by Jerry West

What Happened - This was great when I first installed it and then the more I used it the buggier it got. The ospi icon disapeared and then when I turned it on manually, winamp stopped responding. One of the best - The EQ has a decent frequency and gain range - enough to get some decent bass or treble out of a song if you need it. The MP3restore shines out though - it really works well at removing MP3 compression artifacts (it sounds a bit like what some of those Vinyl sound plugins do, except that it actually works and it's free!). It even does a good job at making CD recordings sound like 48KHz (NB decent headphones required), especially live classical concert recordings. - January 22, 2005 by Adam Walker
