Remotely control winamp through a web server. Great for Shoutcast servers or DJs!

This is an entirely cgi based server-side program that allows users to remotely control Winamp ( through a web browser. The program was written in VisualBasic 5.0 and as far as I know will only run on Windows-based operating systems. The main use for this application is for ShoutCast ( DJs to allow listeners to play their favorite song or to remotely DJ from another computer. It is licensed under the GNU General Public License, please read the included gnu.txt file for details.

Staff review

Give it a try and let us know how it goes...

I'm not running a web server on a Win98/NT box so I can't test this one. Test it out and be our guest reviewer. Mail [email protected] with your review.

Horrible plugin - The documentation is really lacking. I consider myself to be a decent web developer, and I tried this plug in with two different webservers: IIS and Sambar. The developer apparently tested this with apache, because the default directives in the configuration file have Apache folders specified. This plug in might actually work if the documentation didn't SUCK SO BADLY. I get the plug-in working, only for it to say: "Winamp is Closed." Yeah, sure it is. - November 11, 2003 by Curtis Kline

Would be better if it actually worked.... - I'm running a radio station over here. I'm also running a standard Apache webserver on a Win98SE OS. I followed all the instructions precisely, and modified the configuration file with the appropriate parameters. Still, the damn thing just didn't work! Here's the error I got when trying to use it: Error in /cgi-bin/wcc.exe The following internal error has occurred: Invalid procedure call or argument Error Number = 5 It looks like an error with wcc.exe itself. This plugin makes a lot of great promises, but only delivers headaches. I recommend that you do NOT download this load of crap! (one star for a good idea....) - August 16, 2002 by Kris Craig

I could got it to work - Yes I could got it to wor'k. The only problem is that the author isn't updating it anymore. So it only works with the old version I think 2.64 - March 30, 2002 by Gert Schrikkema

Could not get it to work..... - I had trouble with this thing. Everytime I ran the wcc.exe from the web browser it said "Winamp not started". I was never able to get it to work. - March 1, 2002 by Eric Joy
